Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal escaped unhurt after a man opened fire at him while he was performing the duty of ‘sewadar’ outside the Golden Temple in Amritsar. The man, identified as Narain Singh Chaura, was overpowered by some people standing outside the temple. Narain Singh Chaura is a former militant with a history of involvement in criminal activities linked to separatist movements. Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal narrowly escaped a shooting incident near the Golden Temple in Amritsar on Wednesday. While performing religious penance as prescribed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Badal, seated in a wheelchair, was unharmed as the bullet struck a nearby wall. The attacker, Narain Singh, was subdued by bystanders and arrested by police. Authorities revealed Singh's criminal history, including arms-related offenses, and are investigating his motives.
