Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Shivamogga airport, with a lotus-shaped terminal in Karnataka on February 27. According to reports, Rajappa (Ravi), aged about 30, from Bommalapura in Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagara district, has allegedly ended his life, shocked by BS Yediyurappa's exit.
Yediyurappa, who is completing two years in office on July 26, visited Delhi last week, meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP President J P Nadda. The trip raised questions in some quarters if the party is now working out a succession plan.
On July 16, Yediyurappa had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and discussed pending state works, including Mekedatu project across river Cauvery. The meeting came at a time political circles are abuzz with speculations of Yediyurappa being replaced as the chief minister.

The announcement comes after the BS Yediyurappa-led Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka temporarily suspended the Covid-19 vaccination for the age group of 18 to 44 years from May 14, due to shortage in supply.
Free COVID-19 vaccine doses for citizens between 18 and 44 years of age will be administered at the state government’s vaccination centres, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said.
The Chief Minister gave instructions to strengthen the helpline, aimed at immediately responding to issues faced by the people.
Yediyurappa had also tested positive for the virus on August 2, 2020. He was then diagnosed with mild symptoms, and had recovered after being briefly hospitalised.
