"Consumed only three mangoes in 48 meals. Ate Aloo Puri once as Navratri Prasad, " Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on April 19 during a hearing about his plea seeking permission to use insulin while in Tihar jail.
Additionally, Kejriwal has requested permission to have a daily 15-minute video conference consultation with his doctor. The Delhi CM's request for daily medical consultations stems from his severe diabetes and fluctuating blood sugar levels.
In response to the plea from the Delhi Chief Minister, Tihar Jail authorities assured the court that a report detailing his health status and dietary requirements would be promptly submitted.
The counsel representing Tihar Jail further informed the court that according to the prescription, Kejriwal has been off insulin for several years. "He himself mentioned this during his consultation with the doctor," the counsel added.
In response to these arguments, the court permitted Tihar Jail to submit its response by April 20, with the final decision reserved for April 22. The court communicated this decision to both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Tihar Jail.
The court session comes a day after the ED accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor, who has type 2 diabetes, of intentionally consuming sugary foods, such as mangoes and sweets daily to qualify for medical bail.

The central investigation agency, on April 18, conveyed to a Delhi court that Kejriwal was deliberately consuming mangoes, sweets, and sugar in his tea to spike his blood sugar levels. This action is being seen as an effort to leverage medical reasons to secure bail.
Earlier this month, Delhi Minister Atishi had stated that Kejriwal's health had deteriorated considerably since his detention on March 21. The AAP leader noted that Kejriwal, who struggles with "severe diabetes," had lost 4.5 kg since his arrest.
