Need to link Aadhaar with UAN? Here's how to do it online and offline

The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made it compulsory to link your Aadhaar with your Universal Account Number (UAN). This is necessary to if you want to avail any EPF services like withdrawal, e-nomination, and transfer of accounts without any hassle. If your Aadhaar is not linked, your EPF services and benefits can be delayed or even stopped. Fortunately, Aadhaar linking can be done easily offline also as well as online.

To access EPF services such as withdrawals, KYC updation, and transfer claims, it is mandatory to link your Aadhaar number with your UAN. EPFO uses your Aadhaar card for any Aadhaar-based authentication and to check for fraud, etc. In case of non-linkage, your PF account can become restricted, and settlement of claims may get delayed. Linkage ensures that the processing is fast and all EPF services are easily accessible.

Why link Aadhaar with UAN

You can link your Aadhar to your UAN easily at home. Just visit the official EPFO Unified Portal: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/ and log in with your UAN and password. If you’ve never logged in before, you’ll need to activate your UAN first. Once inside the portal, go to the ‘Manage’ tab and click on ‘KYC’ from the dropdown menu. This is where you’ll begin the Aadhaar linking process.

Under the KYC section, you would see a list of documents you could identify. Select 'Aadhaar', enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and your full name as provided on your Aadhaar card. Double-check for spelling variations, as rejections owing to mismatches can occur. Click on 'Save' to enter details for UIDAI to verify.

After you submit, your Aadhaar information will be sent to UIDAI for authentication. If all goes fine, your Aadhaar will get 'Verified' in your KYC account. It might take two days. Or else, you may also check on the portal if your verification is complete. After it's completed, your Aadhaar will get 'Approved by Employer' and 'Verified by UIDAI'.

If you would rather do this in-person, visit your nearby EPFO office along with the filled Aadhaar Seeding Form and self-attested photocopies of your UAN, PAN, and Aadhaar cards. Submit the form to the officer who will make the application. You will be notified via SMS after the linking is finished. This is suitable for those who do not want to use technology.

Aadhaar-UAN mapping is important for easy EPF services. Either on the EPFO website online or at a nearby office offline, it is easy and free of cost. Ensure your personal information is uniform on documents to prevent delay in verification and disbursement of your PF amount.
