By day, he worked as a Swiggy delivery boy, riding through busy streets to deliver food. By night, he studied hard, holding on to a dream that most thought was impossible. This is the story of Suraj Yadav, who turned his delivery bike into a path to success, leaving behind his uniform to become a Deputy Collector.
Suraj's journey began in a small Jharkhand village where financial struggles were a daily reality. His father worked as a mason, and the family often found it difficult to make ends meet. But Suraj carried a dream bigger than his circumstances, the dream of serving his community through a government job.

When he moved to Ranchi to prepare for competitive exams, reality hit hard. With no financial backing, he bought a second-hand bike with help from friends and started working as a food delivery agent and bike taxi driver.
"There were days when my body begged for rest, but my dreams pushed me forward," Suraj recalls. His wife stood by him like a rock, managing household responsibilities while he juggled work and studies. His sister took charge of family responsibilities back home, and friends continued to support him emotionally.
The turning point came after eight long years of struggle. Suraj cleared the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination, securing the 110th rank. During his interview, when the board asked about his delivery job, Suraj confidently explained how it taught him valuable lessons in time management and logistics, skills that would help him as an administrator.
The moment of victory was emotional. "When I called my wife with the news, we both cried on the phone," Suraj shared in a BBC interview. "After eight years of marriage, finally we could see our dreams coming true."

What makes Suraj's story remarkable isn't just his achievement, but his perspective on his journey. "Earlier I was known as Swiggy Boy," he says with pride. "Now I will be known as Deputy Collector. Both roles taught me something valuable. One taught me to survive, the other will teach me to serve."
Suraj Yadav's story proves that no job is too small when you have big dreams. It reminds us that success isn't about where you start, but about the determination with which you pursue your goals.
