Take a look at the all-new Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV launched in India at Rs 1.39 crore
The Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV has been launched in India in a single top-spec variant called the 500 4Matic. This brings with it top of the line features including the massive MBUX Hyperscreen.
German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has launched its next electric offering for India in the form of the EQE SUV. Priced at Rs 1.39 crore, the EQE SUV is being offered in only a single top-spec variant called the 500 4MATIC. The EQE is now the third electric vehicle on sale in India after the EQB SUV and the EQS sedan. (Image: Mercedes Benz)

Starting off with design, we see a lot of styling traits from other electric models in Mercedes’ lineup. The SUV is smooth all over and its streamlined design allows for a very low coefficient of drag. Now, the EQE is an electric vehicle, which means a grille at the front isn’t needed. Mercedes has instead opted for a black panel studded, finished in gloss with the Mercedes-Benz logo taking centre stage. (Image: Mercedes Benz)

A full-width light bar sits above this, connecting the headlamp units on the side. Lower down, the bumper is flanked by air intakes, which, again, have been sealed off. These features allow the car to carry a fairly conventional look while still being slippery enough for low drag. (Image: Mercedes Benz)

In profile, the design is minimalistic. The door handles sit flush with the rest of the body and pop out when required. There is a slender accent line just below the shoulder of the car and paired with the 20-inch rims that come standard, the EQE looks ready to take on more than just tarmac. At the rear, a full-width light bar connects the tail lamps and the bumper is a contrasting black colour rounding off the EQE’s rugged stance. in terms of dimensions, the EQE stands 4,863 mm long, 2,141 mm wide and 1,685 mm tall. Wheelbase measures 3,030 mm. (Image: Mercedes Benz)
We’ve already mentioned that the EQE will be available in the top-spec 500 4Matic trim. This means there is only one powertrain option. The EQE 500 4Matic comes equipped with a 90.56 kWh battery pack powering a dual motor setup. These motors in combination are capable of producing 408 hp of maximum power and 858 Nm of peak torque. Mercedes claims this variant is capable of acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 210 km/h. (Image: Mercedes Benz)

Further, the EQE also claims a WLTP range of 550 km on a single charge. Out of the box, the EQE also gets an 11 kW AC wall charger as standard. It also supports 170 kW DC fast-charging allowing for a full charge in 32 minutes. It also gets three levels of breaking regeneration that can be toggled using the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. The off-road package comes standard on the 500 4Matic which includes Mercedes’ Airmatic suspension. This allows the driver to raise or lower the car by about 25mm at the touch of a button. All of this brings us to the interiors of the SUV for which the highlight has to be the 56-inch Hyperscreen. Essentially fulfilling the duty of a dashboard, the Hyperscreen is a glass panel with three displays mounted into it. These are the instrument panel, the infotainment centre and a display for the front passenger. (Image: Mercedes Benz)

The upholstery can be optioned between Black and Neva Gray. While the black scheme offers contrast white stitching, the Neva Gray scheme offers a sense of space and luxury in the SUV. The lack of a transmission tunnel means the floor of the cabin is entirely flat. This means the oodles of space between the driver and the passenger. To fill up the void, the centre console floats above a small stowage area and features its own spaces for storage and wireless phone charging. (Image: Mercedes Benz)
Speaking of which, the infotainment system does come with smartphone connectivity and runs on Mercedes’ latest MBUX operating system. Sound is provided by a 15-speaker Burmester sound system. The EQE also gets connected car tech as well as Level-2 ADAS functionality for safety which includes autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, active steering assist and blind spot monitoring among others. Some other features of the EQE include multi-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera with invisible bonnet functionality, nine airbags, heated and ventilated front seats, a massage function and a high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter. (Image: Mercedes Benz)

The Mercedes-Benz EQE has been priced at Rs 1.39 crore and the reason the price is so high is because the EQE SUV is being brought to India via the completely built-up (CBU) route. Either way, the EQE directly rivals the likes of the Audi Q8 e-tron, the Jaguar I-Pace and the BMW iX, all of which are cheaper and priced at Rs 1.14 crore, Rs 1.20 crore and Rs 1.21 crore respectively.
