JSW MG Motor India today launched the MG Cyberster in the country at a starting price of Rs 74.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, this price is for the fresh bookings only. Those who pre-reserved the electric roadster can get it for Rs 2.50 lakh lower at Rs 72.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new model will not be sold from the regular MG dealerships. You can get it only at the premium MG Select dealerships. Both MG Cyberster electric roadster and the MG M9 electric MPV will be available here. Just for reference, the M9 is priced at Rs 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
While the Cyberster is being imported in a completely built unit (CBU) form, the M9 is being assembled in India using completely knocked down (CKD) kits.

The Cyberster is referred to as the 'world's fastest MG'. A dual-motor set-up, with a motor each on the front axle and the rear axle, accords an all-wheel-drive capability to the electric car. The dual motors, having a combined output of 510 PS and 725 Nm, draw power from a 77 kWh battery, which is quite thin at just 110 mm.
With Launch Control Mode engaged, the electric roadster can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.2 seconds, and reach a top speed of 200 kmph. For any electric vehicle (EV), range is the most important aspect. The MG Cyberster range is claimed to be 580 km (MIDC) on a single full charge.

Using a 144 kW DC charger, the Cyberster can be charged from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes. The pre-reserve price and launch price include charges for a 3.3 kW portable charger, a 7.4 kW wall box charger and standard installation.
The Cyberster has been engineered keeping two things in mind. First, it is an electric car. And second, it is a performance-oriented electric roadster.

To ensure battery safety, an advanced thermal management system has been used. The suspension and chassis expertise has been provided by former Formula 1 engineer Marco Fainello.
The Cyberster comes with a double wishbone suspension and a precise 50:50 weight distribution for handling and everyday comfort, claimed JSW MG. With Brembo 4-piston front brake callipers, the vehicle comes to a halt from 100 kmph in just 33 metres.

Talking about the exteriors of the Cyberster, it is a quintessential roadster with a sculpted hood and convertible rooftop. The electric scissor doors add to the overall sportiness of the car. The front fascia gets LED lighting and DRLs, while the rear has a full-width LED light bar with integrated indicators. The car drives on 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels, which are shod with Pirelli P-Zero tyres. A drag coefficient of 0.269 Cd enhances the aerodynamic quotient.
You can have the Cyberster in four dual-tone exterior combinations -- Nuclear Yellow with Black roof, Flare Red with Black roof, Andes Grey with Red roof and Modern Beige with Red roof.

The cabin is a premium space with the usage of sustainable Dinamica suede and vegan leather upholstery. There is a wraparound, driver-centric cockpit with a triple-display interface, featuring a central 10.25-inch touchscreen and two 7-inch digital panels for accessing real-time vehicle data, entertainment and other settings. The car also has dual-zone automatic climate control with PM2.5 filtration, Bose audio system, and steering-mounted paddle shifters for regenerative braking and four drive modes -- Comfort, Sport, Custom and Super Sport.
The MG cars in India have always ranked high on the tech aspect. It gets a high-strength H-shaped full cradle structure and a Static Stability Factor (SSF) of 1.83 for maximum rollover resistance. With Level-2 ADAS, you get features like adaptive cruise control, speed limit assist, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, active emergency braking, lane change assist, rear cross alert and blind spot detection. Other safety features include front and side airbags, electronic stability control and and electronic differential lock.
