Ola Electric’s new EV hub which is being built in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district will potentially employ 25,000 workforce when it runs on full-scale, said the firm’s cofounder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bhavish Aggarwal on January 7 at the Tamil Nadu Global Investor Meet (GIM) being held in Chennai.
“Spread across 2000 acres, our EV hub will also have a vendor and supplier network in addition to manufacturing capacity. At full scale, our EV hub will have 25,000 strong workforce and together we will make Tamil Nadu and India, the global epicenter for EVs,” he said.
Aggarwal also said that the EV hub will be operational from next month.
“We were able to set up one of India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturing facilities which we call the future factory in just eight months in Tamil Nadu, the EV hub will be operational next month. We have also made is production-ready in record time, this is possible only in India and Tamil Nadu.” Aggarwal said.
In June of 2023, Ola Electric announced building an EV hub in Tamil Nadu, comprising Ola Future Factory for EV manufacturing, and a gigafactory along with co-located suppliers.
“This will be India’s first gigafactory, with a capacity of 100 GwH full-scale, and our two-wheeler manufacturing capacity with an envisioned capacity of 10 million units a year,” Aggarwal said at the Global Investors’ Meet 2024.
Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet (GIM) is a two-day event opened on January 7 at Chennai Trade Centre. This edition will have 9 partner countries and more than 30 participating nations.
Last year in January Ola Electric signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu to invest more than Rs 7,000 crores in the state.
