The parents of the 31-year-old trainee doctor, who was allegedly raped and murdered at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, were misguided by the hospital authorities who did not inform them of the actual situation.

CNN-News18 accessed two audio clips that reveal how the victim's parents were mislead initially. In one of the clips, the assistant superintendent of RG Kar Hospital can be heard telling the victim's father that his daughter is “extremely unwell and has been hospitalised”. The second clip has the voice of a man who tells the girl's parents that she has died by suicide and they should quickly come over to the hospital.

The body of the trainee doctor was found inside the seminar hall of the state-run hospital. She was allegedly raped and murdered when she had gone there to take some rest during her graveyard shift in the early hours of August 9.

In the first clip, the assistant superintendent informs the victim's father that his daughter's condition is really bad. "Your daughter has been hospitalised, please come quickly," she said. As her father seeks to know further details, the woman says: “I am not a doctor, I am an assistant superintendent; your daughter has been admitted to the emergency, her condition is very bad. A doctor will tell you more about this.”

The second clip has the voice of a man who asks her parents to arrive as soon as possible. “Your daughter is no more. She may have committed suicide. The police are here, so you also come quickly. You will know more when you are here,” the man says.

Earlier, the victim's father had also revealed that an official from Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital had called them and said that their daughter "died by suicide". A relative, who accompanied the victim's parents to the hospital, said the trainee doctor's father was allowed to go inside and see her body after three hours.

Her body with severe injury marks was found inside the hall by a doctor who was on rounds.

Civic volunteer Sanjay Roy was arrested the next day based on CCTV footage in which he was seen entering the seminar hall at 4.03 am on the day of the incident.

On August 13, the Calcutta High Court ordered the transfer of the probe from the Kolkata Police to the CBI, which took over the case on August 14.
