Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to release the 18th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Yojana on October 5 from Washim in Maharashtra. The government will spend Rs 20,000 crore to transfer Rs 2,000 to more than 9.5 crore farmers through direct benefit transfer (DBT) to their bank accounts.
On June 18, PM Modi had released Rs 20,000 crore as part of the income support scheme for over 9.26 crore farmers during the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan in Varanasi. This was the first installment released under the scheme after Modi-led NDA government returned to power for the third consecutive term.
How to avail the benefit?
Farmers, who want to avail the benefits under the scheme, need to complete their eKYC formalities and check beneficiary status. Without these formalities, farmers may not be able to get the quarterly installments.
According to the PM-kisan portal, eKYC is mandatory to receive the benefits, as this ensures funds are transferred to the correct Aadhaar-linked accounts. Farmers can complete their eKYC process with the help of mobile OTP, biometric and face authentication. These facilities can be availed through mobile, common service centres or PM-Kisan mobile app.
How to check beneficiary status?
Farmers can check their beneficiary status by simply following these steps:
First, they need to go to the official website of PM-Kisan. Users can click on this link- https://pmkisan.gov.in/BeneficiaryStatus_New.aspx
Once the website has been opened, farmers need to enter their registration number or Aadhaar number. Once done, press ‘get data’ to check your status and then verify the payment details. Here, payment and bank account details can be checked and changes made if required.
Who is eligible?
The scheme is designed to provide support to small farmers. Under this scheme, any family who own up to 2 hectares of land are eligible to avail Rs 2,000 every four months.
