A driverless car erupted in flames while speeding down the elevated Ajmer Road in Jaipur towards Sudarshanpura Pulia on Saturday. The fiery vehicle collided with a parked motorcycle, prompting nearby motorists to flee for safety. The chaotic scene ended when the burning car crashed into a road divider, but fortunately, no injuries were reported despite the heavy traffic.
Videos quickly went viral on social media showing the intense moments as motorcyclists abandoned their bikes upon seeing the approaching flames. Many were seen hurriedly escaping their vehicles to avoid danger, reflecting the fear and confusion of the situation.
According to a Times of India report, the car was driven by Jitendra Jangid, a resident of Divya Darshan Apartment in Mansarovar. While descending the elevated road, he noticed smoke coming from the vehicle’s air conditioning unit. Concerned, he called his brother for advice, who suggested he check under the hood. Upon exiting the vehicle and lifting the bonnet, Jitendra discovered the engine was on fire.
The fire quickly escalated, damaging the car's handbrake and causing the driverless vehicle to roll uncontrollably down the slope. It struck a parked motorcycle before coming to a stop after hitting a roadside divider. The rapid spread of the flames underscored the dangers of vehicle malfunctions, particularly in busy areas.
A fire tender was dispatched from 22 Godam shortly after the alarm was raised. A police officer noted that by the time the fire was extinguished, the car had been completely destroyed, resulting in a total loss.
