Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Wednesday, accused the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) of attempting to divide society like Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Speaking at a district-level employment fair in Aligarh, Adityanath remarked, "Jinnah's act of dividing the nation was a grave sin, and similarly, the Congress and Samajwadi Party are now perpetuating a similar sin by dividing society".
"His spirit has entered Samajwadi Party and Congress", he further noted.
During the event, which took place in the Khair Assembly constituency - a region set for a bypoll - CM Adityanath distributed appointment letters to several youths and inaugurated or laid the foundation for 305 projects valued at Rs 705 crore. He has been holding these employment fairs in constituencies facing upcoming elections, having previously conducted similar events in Milkipur, Katehari, and Meerapur.
The Chief Minister slammed the opposition for allegedly fostering societal discord and anarchy, attributing these issues to attempts to sow caste-based divisions. He condemned the SP for its past record on women's safety, referring to controversial remarks by party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and claiming that Akhilesh Yadav's silence on various incidents speaks to his disregard for women's issues.
"Those who failed to achieve anything during their tenure and were known only for their misdeeds are now disturbed by the rule of law in the state. These are the same Samajwadi Party members who once excused misconduct with the line, ‘ladke hain, aur ladkon se galti ho jaati hai’ (they are boys and boys make mistakes). They were responsible for compromising the safety of daughters", he said. "Those who endanger the safety of daughters and businessmen will go to ‘Yamlok’," he added.
He also lashed out at the SP chief, stating that Akhilesh Yadav has “no right to comment on women’s safety,” adding that "his silence on incidents in Ayodhya, Kannauj, and Kolkata speaks volumes".
Adityanath further took a dig at the Congress and SP for undermining social cohesion and using appeasement tactics to detract from development. He accused these parties of focusing solely on their own interests while the BJP remains dedicated to honoring national heroes like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, and Maharaja Mahendra Pratap Singh, as evidenced by the establishment of a university in Mahendra Pratap Singh’s name.
The CM noted that Uttar Pradesh has made significant progress since 2017, and warned that a return to SP rule could lead to instability and disorder. He highlighted that employment and security are key components of good governance, with recent employment fairs providing opportunities to over 5,000 youths and loans of over ₹35 crore granted to MSMEs.
"Today, Uttar Pradesh is seen as one of the leading states in the country. We must ensure that this progress continues. If given the opportunity, the Samajwadi Party would lead to riots, looting, and anarchy", said Adityanath.
Additionally, tablets and smartphones were distributed to more than 1,500 students under the Swami Vivekananda Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana.
