Bengaluru-based Advance Mechanical Services Pvt Ltd (AMS-India) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Israel Xtend Ai to develop and manufacture advanced service robots for healthcare, hospitality, and other sectors.
The initiative promises to transform the healthcare for thousands of underprivileged citizens by deploying cost-effective, autonomous robotic solutions in hospitals and clinics across rural and urban regions, Karnataka’s information technology & biotechnology minister Priyank Kharge said on March 25.
The two sides will use cutting-edge robotics technology to deliver scalable solutions across healthcare, hospitality, and manufacturing, officials said.
Kharge said that the partnership, which is part of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission, would boost economic growth, generate high-value jobs, and fortify trade ties between India and Israel.
By leveraging technology and innovation, the government was committed to enhancing healthcare accessibility, particularly in underserved areas, the minister said.
The tie-up would strengthen Karnataka’s position as a leader in digital health and medical robotics, aligning with the vision of inclusive and sustainable development.
Xtend Ai CEO Harry Fox said by utilising the Cassini product line of service robots and telemedicine kiosks, Karnataka can significantly enhance healthcare accessibility and efficiency, addressing critical gaps in both rural and urban settings.
Boris Zlotnikov, director of Engineering at Xtend Ai, said government support was crucial in scaling these solutions to foster a robust, future-ready healthcare ecosystem through public-private partnerships, policy frameworks, and funding.
The MoU focuses on transforming rural healthcare by improving remote healthcare access, primary diagnostics, preventive care, and maternal-child health services.
It also aims to support overburdened primary health centres through enhanced education and streamlined hospital operations.
In urban healthcare, the initiative seeks to reduce hospital wait times, improve post-operative care, and provide night-time and off-hours coverage. The partnership addresses infection control, pandemic preparedness, medical training, and integration with smart urban infrastructure, officials said.
The visiting delegation also met Dr Manoj Kumar HV, director and dean of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute (Bowring Hospital), to discuss a pilot. The project will improve registration, pre-discharge procedures, and casualty management, streamlining tasks currently managed by 60 operators for 1,200 OPD patients daily. “Next steps include deploying additional pilot projects featuring robotic nurse-assistants and telemedicine kiosks in rural districts and urban hospital clusters,” a statement said.
