New Reliance JioMotive device can turn any car into 'smart car'; Check price, availability, features and more

The JioMotive with real-time car location tracker, and theft alert features has been launched in India.

Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio has launched 'JioMotive', a portable onboard diagnostics (OBD) device that can convert any conventional car into a smart car "in minutes."

According to an official statement issued by Reliance Digital, the device uses features such as the anti-theft alert, anti-tow alert, geo fencing, real time location detection, and many more, users can access these smart features in their cars without any critical re-wiring.

Since JioMotive is a plug-and-play device, it does not require any professional installation.

Price and availability 

JioMotive is priced at Rs 4,999 and will be available for purchase on e-commerce websites such as Reliance Digital, Jio and Amazon.

Features

Anti-Theft Alert: This feature ensures users receive alerts if the car is being stolen.

Anti-Tow Alert: This feature alerts users if their car is being towed.

Device Tamper Alert: This enables users to receive instant alerts on their smartphones if the device is, or attempted to be, removed.

Real-Time Vehicle Tracking: This feature allows users to track the location of their vehicle.

Geo Fencing: This allows users to create geo fences of any shape. This also allows users to get real time alerts on entry or exit.

Geofencing involves establishing virtual zones that generate alerts when one of your vehicles enters or exits a designated area, enabling you to monitor the vehicle's movements within these defined boundaries.

Time Fencing: This feature enables the car to stay in one place as long as the users' need be.

Accident Detection: This allows users to receive real time alerts on their smartphones if the vehicle faces an accident.

Vehicle Health Detection: This enables users to receive real time DTC alerts and updates about the health of the vehicle.

Jio e-SIM: This feature eliminates the need for users to purchase an extra sim card or data plan.

Installation process

Since JioMotive is a plug-and-play device, IOS users can download the JioThings app from App Store and android users can download and install the JioThings App from Google's Play Store.

The steps are as follows:

1. Login or signup to JioThings with your Jio number.
2. Click on the "+" option and select "JioMotive."
3. Enter the IMEI number from "Jiomotive box" and click "Proceed."
4. Enter the car details such as the car name, model, fuel type, registration number, vehicle maker, year of make and click "Save."
5. Plug the JioMotive device into your car's OBD port.
6. Turn your car on.
7. Check off the terms and conditions box and click "Enable."
8. Click on "JioJCR1440" and click "Proceed" on the next screen.
9. You will receive a confirmation text for the activation of the device.
10. The car must be switched on for 10 minutes until the device gets activated. The data is expected to flow in the JioThings app in one hour.
