Reliance Jio has turned a ‘Data Dark India’ into a ‘Data Rich nation’, supplying homes with affordable, high-speed 4G connectivity, according to Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, India's largest private company.

“With the launch of Jio 4G in 2016, we set out on a journey to make digital inclusion in India a reality. And this year, Jio has further enhanced the country’s digital infrastructure by rolling out its True5G network across India in world-record time,” Mukesh Ambani said in the annual report of Reliance Industries released on August 7.

The launch of JioBharat phone was another significant step towards bridging India's digital divide. “A smartphone at the price of a feature phone, the JioBharat phone will go a long way in the realisation of a 2G-mukt Bharat,” Ambani said.

RIL, through its subsidiaries Jio Platforms and Reliance Jio, is making concerted efforts to build capabilities in evolving technologies such as AI/ML, AR/VR, robotics, and natural language recognition and processing.

“The world is increasingly recognising India as an innovation hub, and Jio will continue to play a stellar role in building the nation’s digital infrastructure and capabilities,” chairman Mukesh Ambani added.

He cited India's evolving demography as a factor behind RIL’s growth story. “The working population has soared to ~450 million, and household incomes are upward. There is visible improvement in the quality of life of the common people. With an increase in disposable income, the demand for goods and services is expanding rapidly,” Ambani said.

Mukesh Ambani added that the world is now realising India's enormous potential, and ‘Invest in India’ is being advocated globally.
