The market rally continues, with the Nifty ending 93 points higher, while the Sensex was up by 320 points. Among sectors, Pharma and Healthcare indices gained over 1 percent, whereas intraday profit booking was seen in selective Defence stocks. Technically, after a gap-up open, the market witnessed some selling pressure at higher levels. However, the short-term outlook remains positive.
For day traders, the higher bottom support is placed near 25,300/82700. We are of the view that as long as the market trades above this level, the bullish sentiment is likely to continue. On the higher side, 25,500/83300 would act as an immediate resistance zone for the bulls. A successful breakout above 25,500/83300 could push the market up to 25,600–25,625/83500-83600.
On the flip side, if the market falls below 25,300/82700, the uptrend would become vulnerable. Below this level, traders may prefer to exit their long positions.

Markets traded volatile on Thursday but managed to maintain the positive tone, continuing its prevailing trend. After a flat start, the Nifty index oscillated within a limited range in the first half however volatility in heavyweights in the latter half triggered sharp swings. Eventually, it closed near the day’s high at 25,423.60, up 0.37%.
Sectoral trends remained mixed, with pharma, IT and financials edged higher while energy and realty ended on a muted note. The broader markets outperformed once again, with both midcap and smallcap indices rising nearly 0.5% each, reflecting strong participation across segments.
The market’s upward momentum was underpinned primarily by the US Federal Reserve’s rate cut of 25 basis points, which boosted risk sentiment globally. Besides, the sentiment stayed constructive, supported by sustained domestic flows and rotational buying in key sectors.
On the index front, we are now on the verge of testing the target zone 25,500 zone in Nifty, which could prompt some profit taking or consolidation in the index ahead. However, the favorable sentiment across the key sectors would keep the tone positive. We thus recommend focusing more on stock-specific opportunities now, preferring stocks where risk to reward is favorable.
Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments
Indian equities extended gains after the Fed’s 25 bps rate cut and indication for further easing. IT and Pharma outperformed on expectations of higher spending and stronger export prospects.
Although elevated valuations and a firm dollar index prompted intermittent profit booking, comfort in private banks and mid & small caps helped in sustaining the positive bias and regain the trend.
Sudeep Shah, Head - Technical Research and Derivatives at SBI Securities.
On Thursday, the benchmark index Nifty opened with a notable upside gap. However, the momentum was short-lived as the index failed to hold on to higher levels, triggering minor profit booking during the mid-session. However, it has marked the low of 25329 level and thereafter witnessed a sharp recovery in the final hour of trade, eventually closing above the 25400 mark with a gain of 0.37%.
Among the Nifty constituents, Eternal and HDFC Life emerged as the top gainers, showcasing strong buying interest. On the flip side, Coal India and Bajaj Finance were the major laggards, dragging the index lower during the day.
From a sectoral perspective, Nifty Pharma and Nifty Healthcare outperformed, reflecting defensive buying amid broader market volatility. Meanwhile, Nifty Media and Nifty PSU Bank indices were under pressure, ending as the top sectoral losers.
The broader market continued its positive momentum, with Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices extending their winning streak for the 10th consecutive session. However, market breadth remained slightly negative, as the advance/decline ratio tilted in favour of the decliners. Out of the Nifty 500 universe, 234 stocks managed to close in the green, indicating selective buying across sectors.
Nifty View
The benchmark index Nifty witnessed a sharp recovery in the final hour of Thursday’s trading session, resulting in the formation of a small-bodied candle with a long lower shadow on the daily chart. This candle reflects buying interest at lower levels, suggesting that bulls are defending key support zones.
From a technical standpoint, the index is currently trading above all major moving averages, and momentum indicators such as RSI and MACD are also pointing towards continued bullish strength. This confluence of signals reinforces the positive undertone in the market.
Going ahead, we expect the Nifty to test the levels of 25600, followed by 25750 in the short term. On the downside, the zone between 25300–25270 is likely to act as a crucial support area.
Bank Nifty View
The banking benchmark index Bank Nifty continued its upward momentum on Thursday, recovering smartly from the day’s low and closing above the 55700 mark with a gain of 0.42%. This marks the 12th consecutive positive close, reflecting sustained pullback in banking stocks.
Technically, the index is trading comfortably above its key moving averages, which have now started to slope upwards — a sign of strengthening trend dynamics. Additionally, the daily RSI has surged past the 60 level for the first time since July 2025, indicating a pickup in bullish momentum and improving market breadth within the banking space.
This setup suggests that Bank Nifty may continue its pullback rally in the near term. Going ahead, the zone of 56000-56100 will act as an important hurdle for the index. Any sustainable move above the level of 56000 will lead to a sharp upside rally upto the level of 56600, followed by the 57000 level in the short term. While, on the downside, the zone of 55400-55300 will act as crucial support.
Vaibhav Vidwani, Research Analyst at Bonanza
Today, the Indian stock market closed positively, with the Sensex rising by approximately 320.25 points (0.39%) to around 83,013.96 and the Nifty gaining about 93.35 points (0.37%) to hover near 25,423.6 levels.
The positive market sentiment was primarily driven by the US Federal Reserve's decision to cut interest rates by 25 basis points to 4.25%, marking the first rate reduction since December. This monetary easing move boosted global liquidity expectations and strengthened investor confidence in emerging markets like India. Additionally, ongoing optimism around India-US trade negotiations and recent GST reforms taking effect from September 22 continued to support market sentiment. The rupee's stability against the dollar also contributed to the positive mood.
The sectoral performance was led by pharmaceutical stocks, which emerged as the biggest beneficiaries of the Fed rate cut. The Nifty Pharma index was up by 1.50%, gaining 333 points to reach 22,574.35. Top performers in the pharma space included NatcoPharma, Biocon, and Gland Pharma. The technology sector also performed well, with IT stocks like Infosys and Wipro showing gains. However, auto, PSU banks, and real estate sectors faced selling pressure and ended in the red. Media and metal stocks were among the top losers for the day.
Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities
Nifty remained volatile after a gap-up start, driven by a dovish Fed announcement. The short-term trend is likely to stay positive as the index is comfortably trading above its critical moving average. The daily RSI is in a bullish crossover and rising above the previous swing high, indicating strengthening momentum.
In the near term, support is placed at 25,300 and 25,150. On the other hand, crucial resistance is seen at 25,500. A decisive move above this level could trigger a rally towards 26,000. Overall, a buy-on-dips strategy remains favorable in the current market scenario.
Dilip Parmar – Senior Research Analyst, HDFC Securities
The Indian rupee's four-day rally hit a snag, mirroring the weakness in regional currencies. The dollar rebounded sharply after the Fed's 25-basis-point rate cut, especially as the 'dot plot' suggests two more cuts are on the table by late 2025.
Despite a weaker dollar against other majors, the rupee's trend remains soft, with its depreciation currently serving as a growth stabiliser rather than a deterrent to rate easing. Near-term, we see spot USDINR supported at 87.65 with resistance at 88.40.
