On June 12, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) and Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) bought equities worth Rs 427 crore while Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) bought equities worth Rs 234 crore.
According to provisional data from the exchanges, FIIs bought Rs 15,273 crore and sold Rs 14,847 crore. Meanwhile, DIIs picked up Rs 13,420 crore in shares and offloaded equities worth Rs 10,969 crore in the session.
At close, the Sensex was up 149 points or 0.2 percent at 76,606 and the Nifty 50 was up 43 points at 23,308. About 2,306 shares advanced, 1,132 shares declined, and 79 shares remained unchanged. After touching a fresh intraday high, Nifty 50 ended higher on June 12.
"Nifty touched another all-time high in the early part of the session on June 12 but gave up most of the gains during the day. It closed near the intraday low; however, the fact that it closed in the positive is reassuring. It could now stay in the 23206-23442 band for the near term," said Deepak Jasani, Head of Retail Research at HDFC Securities.
In the year so far, FIIs have net sold shares worth Rs 36,900
crore, while DIIs have bought shares worth Rs 223,190
crore at the same time.
