As polling kicks off, MC Election 2024 Portfolio's returns race past benchmarks

The handpicked 14-stock portfolio is designed to capitalise on a pickup in reform momentum once elections finish

The portfolio has braved the storm of mid-cap meltdown and geopolitical conflict that resulted in heightened volatility in the markets

Voting for the 18th Lok Sabha has started today, April 19.  MC Pro's Research team had already constructed the Election 2024 Portfolio for its subscribers on February 5th, to participate in the economic reset that is likely to follow this crucial event. In just over two months after the launch, the portfolio is already doing well compared to the benchmarks.

We believe that development and fiscal prudence both will coexist in India going forward. With a focus on “Developed India” by 2047, the market should expect acceleration in the reform momentum.  We also believe that the Indian economy and corporate sector are poised for a take-off.

Our handpicked 14 stocks for the “Election Portfolio” are expected to benefit from mega trends like manufacturing, digitalisation, defence indigenization, infrastructure, premiumisation in consumption, the capex upcycle and green technology.

While the portfolio has been constructed for the long-term, and we remain confident of its prospects, it might be interesting to see how the portfolio has braved the storm of mid-cap meltdown and geopolitical conflict that resulted in heightened volatility in the markets.

We are happy to share that amid these odds, the portfolio so far (from inception on 5th February to 18th April) has managed to outperform both the Nifty and the Nifty 500. And this is in a short period of time. While the Nifty has returned a gain of 0.7 percent, Nifty 500 2.1 percent, the portfolio has yielded a gain of 6.1 percent.

While some of the stocks like Data Pattens, VA Tech Wabag, SBI and Global Health had a strong show so far, we remain convinced on the fundamental strength of all our selected stocks and are monitoring the fundamentals of each company closely. Wishing you a happy election and investing season with Moneycontrol.
