If you want your home to be a haven of love, peace, and joy, sometimes turning to ancient wisdom can help. Integrating Vaastu principles into your interior design is not just an ongoing fad; it's a way to invite positivity and balance into your space. Vaastu, an ancient Indian science, focuses on the alignment and placement of elements to channel auspicious energy and harmonise with nature. Applying these principles can transform your home into a sanctuary of comfort and tranquility.

Says Kuntal Vyas Aggarwal, Founder and Design Head of Resaiki Interiors and Architecture Design Studio, "Designing a space with Vaastu principles isn't just about aesthetics; it's about creating an environment that nurtures and elevates the human spirit."

Aggarwal shares some practical tips for including Vaastu principles into your bedroom design to enhance its harmony and tranquility:

Choosing material: Vaastu suggests using natural wood for shelving to create a warm, grounding effect. Doors should be solid wood and open clockwise to ensure a smooth flow of energy.

Colour and hues: Colours play a vital role in Vaastu. Hues like yellow, saffron, or light red are considered auspicious and can create a vibrant yet calming atmosphere. Opt for a light colour palette for bedding and furniture to boost cleanliness and positivity, enhancing the energy of the room.

Direction and orientation: According to Vaastu, the placement of your bed is vital. Position it towards the south or east to align with the Earth's magnetic field, ensuring a balanced flow of energy.

Minimalist approach: In smaller bedrooms, less is often more. Limit furniture and decor to essential items to prevent overcrowding and maintain clarity. Reducing clutter can streamline energy and promote mental clarity.

Lighting: Try soft, warm lighting to gently illuminate your room. It creates a soothing glow. This carefully chosen lighting enhances the room’s peace and keeps away any harsh shadows or dim corners that could disrupt the ambiance.

Decor elements: Carefully select the decor items. Choose a calming plant on the nightstand and serene artwork on the walls. These elements foster a peaceful environment, steering clear of sharp or aggressive designs that might unsettle the room's harmony.
