Move over Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton — there’s a new “it bag” taking over social media, and it comes straight from your neighbourhood paan shop. The bright yellow Vimal Pan Masala bag has unexpectedly become the latest global fashion statement, thanks to a few creative content creators turning desi everyday items into viral style moments.

‘No Gucci, No Prada, Only Vimal’ Goes Viral

Two international creators, Rosalba Pérez and Jaqueline Morales, recently shared a now-viral video of themselves strutting through Indian streets dressed in vibrant outfits — each carrying a Vimal bag like it was fresh off a Paris runway.

The overlay text on their clip read: “No Gucci, No Prada, No LV, ONLY VIMAL.”
They even captioned it “Indian Souvenir Bag,” a tongue-in-cheek nod to how iconic Indian street culture can be when seen through a playful lens.

In another video, the duo is seen walking into a metro station holding the same bags, this time adding the caption: “Next station… chai & colours.”

From Paan Shop to Pop Culture

The videos have now racked up nearly 30 million views, sparking thousands of memes and hilarious comments. One user proudly called it “best fashion,” while another joked, “India is not safe for foreigners.” Someone even declared, “Louis Vuitton is nothing against Vimal Bags.”

The internet also gave the duo honorary desi titles, with comments like “Eligible for Indian citizenship” and “Someone please give these people Aadhaar cards.”

The Internet’s New Obsession with Everyday India

This isn’t the first time Indian household staples have been turned into ironic fashion moments. Last year, a video of a tote bag made from a Basmati rice sack spotted in a US salon went viral for similar reasons — proving that the line between luxury and local is getting blurrier (and funnier).

Fashion, the Desi Way

More than just a meme, the Vimal Pan Masala bag trend is a celebration of color, creativity, and cross-cultural understanding. It demonstrates how international artists are accepting Indian eccentricities and confidently and humorously remixing them.

Because in 2025, sometimes all you need is a bright yellow jhola and the appropriate amount of swag to make a statement. You don't always need a designer label to do so.
