Meditation is an age-old practice that brings peace to the mind, body, and soul. For women who juggle multiple roles in personal and professional life, meditation acts as a calming force that improves their mental well-being. It empowers them to cultivate self-awareness, manage stress, and strengthen their emotional stability, thus helping them lead more balanced lives.

Meditation is not just a practice, but a transformative journey for women's mental well-being, says Dr Narendra K Shetty, Chief Wellness  Officer, Kshemavana Naturopathy and Yoga Center. “It empowers women to get in touch with their inner strength, find balance, and lead healthier and happier life. Also, by making meditation a regular part of their routine, women can boost their self-confidence, emotional stability, and mental peace, thus becoming the pillars of strength and positivity for themselves and those around them,” he says.

Boosting self esteem:

Meditation plays a vital role in boosting women's self-esteem and determination. “In a society where women often face gender-based challenges, meditation empowers women to strengthen their confidence and vulnerability. It refrains them from  self-doubt, and helps to build inner strength, and approach problems with unwavering determination,” says Dr Shetty. He adds, “For women balancing careers, meditation improves decision-making abilities, enabling them to tackle work-related stress with clarity and calmness. This emotional stability contributes to improved performance in both personal and professional spheres.”

Balancing inner peace and energy:

Practicing meditation provides inner peace and a deep spiritual mindset. “It helps women connect with their feminine energy, which is naturally associated with love, care, and intuition. This balance promotes their emotional intelligence and nurtures compassion toward themselves and others. Meditation not only helps women manage anxiety but also strengthens their ability to create harmonious relationships at home and in society,” explains Dr Shetty. The practice of mindfulness allows them to approach life with patience, empathy, and positivity.

Improving physical and emotional health:

Regular meditation has profound effects on women's physical and emotional health. According to Dr Shetty, practising meditation regulates hormonal balance, improves sleep quality, and lowers stress levels. Meditation, he says, is particularly beneficial for women dealing with postmenopausal symptoms, anxiety, and high blood pressure. “Chanting mantras like 'Om' provides relaxation and boosts well-being. As meditation promotes self-awareness and emotional balance, it allows women to prioritise their well-being while managing family, work, and social responsibilities,” he says.
