Neena Gupta’s past affair with legendary West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards and her decision to embrace motherhood as an unmarried woman often sparks curiosity among fans.

The actress has recently reflected on the most talked-about topics about her life in her autobiography Sach Kahun Toh. She revealed that she was "giddy with joy” when she found out that she was expecting a child. She welcomed her daughter Masaba in 1989.

After Masaba's birth, Vivian Richards stayed involved as much as possible. Neena Gupta and Vivian's unconventional, long-distance relationship had its ups and downs, given his existing marriage, and was marked by cherished moments and challenges, making it an emotionally complex chapter in Neena's life. Despite everything, Vivian supported Neena at every step.

How did Neena and Vivian meet?

Neena Gupta also reflected on her first meeting with Vivian Richards in her memoir. She revealed that she first met Vivian at a dinner party hosted by the Maharani of Jaipur, just a day after watching him play a match. The duo instantly connected and became friends.

Vivian had to return to his home and lost contact. However, Neena and Vivian unexpectedly met at the Delhi airport and remained in touch this time. The couple soon sparked romance and got pregnant after a while.

Neena Gupta raised her daughter Masaba as a single mother

Neena Gupta received huge backlash for her pregnancy, with a few of the critics suggesting her of abortion. However, Neena received Vivian Richards’ support in embracing motherhood, which boosted her confidence.

She raised Masaba on her own and navigated motherhood as a single mother, which was definitely tough at the time.

The actress has raised Masaba as an independent and successful fashion designer and actress. Additionally, Neena has recently become a grandmother to Masaba's daughter, Matara. Masaba tied the knot to Satyadeep Mishra, who played her ex-husband in Masaba Masaba, on 27 January 2023.

In a recent interview, she shared that she's asked Matara to call her "Neena" instead of "Naani" (grandmother), as she doesn't feel like a traditional grandmother.

Found second love

Neena Gupta has found the love of her life years after welcoming her daughter. She provided that it's never too late to start a new chapter in life. The actress tied the knot with Vivek Mehra, a Chartered Accountant, at the age of 59, in an intimate ceremony in 2008.
