When Gauri Khan revealed son Aryan Khan says, “I am a Muslim”

Celebrity couple Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan have been together for decades, and their interfaith marriage frequently makes headlines. Fans frequently wonder whose religion their kids, Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan and AbRam Khan will follow.

However, Gauri once addressed the topic and admitted that their older son, Aryan, will always follow Shah Rukh’s religion.

In a throwback episode of Koffee with Karan, Gauri got candid about faith in their family and shared that mutual respect is the secret ingredient of their lasting marriage and their strong family.

Gauri said, “Aryan is so into Shah Rukh that he would follow his religion… He always says, 'I am a Muslim.'" She added that this would often leave her mother surprised and unsure how to respond, but acknowledged that it's simply the reality they’ve embraced as a family.”

Gauri then stressed the importance of mutual respect in their interfaith marriage and revealed that there’s a balance in their home. She also shared that she and Shah Rukh equally respect their religion, and she never feels the need to convert.

The interior designer said, “Everybody is an individual and follows their own religion.”

During a previous appearance on Dance Plus Season 5, Shah Rukh Khan revealed how he and Gauri Khan approach religion in his interfaith family. Despite being of different religions, Shah Rukh revealed that he and Gauri have raised their kids with a sense of national identity.

King Khan recalled a moment when his daughter, Suhana Khan, asked about their religion for a school form. However, the actor made it clear that they don’t have a religion. Shah Rukh said, “We are Indian. We don't have a religion.”

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s marriage

Shah Rukh Khan met Gauri Khan in Delhi in 1984 and instantly fell in love. The couple tied the knot on October 12, 1991. The couple share three kids together, two sons, Aryan and AbRam and a daughter, Suhana.

On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for the upcoming action-thriller King. He will star alongside his daughter, Suhana Khan. The film is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and produced by Siddharth Anand and Red Chillies Entertainment.

Meanwhile, Aryan Khan is set to make his directorial debut with the upcoming Netflix series titled The Bads of Bollywood. He has also penned and will serve as the showrunner. The Bads of Bollywood is set to hit the streaming giant in June 2025.
