In Tamil Nadu, the film's home state, "Vidaamuyarchi" has already crossed the Rs 10 crore mark in pre-sales just for the first day. By Sunday morning, over 5.5 lakh tickets had been sold for nearly 2750 shows in 380 cinemas, with an average occupancy of 55%. With a couple of days still left before the release, the pre-sales had reached Rs 10.5 crore. This strong pre-booking suggests that the film is likely to have a massive opening day collection. If the movie receives positive reviews and word-of-mouth, it could mean a very successful run at the box office for the Tamil film industry.

Beyond Tamil Nadu, "Vidaamuyarchi" is also doing well in Karnataka, where it has sold approximately 66,000 tickets worth Rs 1.85 crore, with a 22% occupancy rate.
Looking at the bigger picture, "Vidaamuyarchi" has raked in a staggering Rs 21 crore in advance bookings for the entire opening weekend, from February 6th to 9th. This includes data from over 8500 shows in 375 cinemas across Tamil Nadu. The film's release on a Thursday means it will benefit from a four-day long weekend, which is likely to boost its box office numbers further.

"Vidaamuyarchi," produced by Lyca Productions and directed by Magizh Thirumeni, also stars Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, and Arav in important roles. It is rumored to be an official remake of the Hollywood film "Breakdown." Originally planned for a Pongal 2025 release, the film's release date was later changed to February 6th.

This film is the first major release from the Kollywood film industry in 2025. Ajith Kumar fans have even more to look forward to, as his other film, "Good Bad Ugly," is also scheduled to be released later this year.
