Varun Dhawan talks about hiding Keerthy Suresh's relationship, says "she was like, when I become a wife..."

Keerthy Suresh, who is set to make her Hindi debut alongside Varun Dhawan in Baby John, recently shared a glimpse of their off-screen camaraderie. During their time shooting in Mumbai, Varun took it upon himself to look out for Keerthy, especially when male co-stars showed curiosity about her.

At the time, Keerthy was in a committed relationship, though she kept it private. Varun, ever the protective co-star, skillfully deflected questions about her personal life, ensuring her privacy was respected while they worked together. The bond they formed on set was one of mutual respect and friendship.

In an conversation with Filmfare Middle East, Varun Dhawan couldn’t help but rave about his friendship with Keerthy Suresh, joking that it was "marriage" that brought them closer. Keerthy, focused on preparing for her future married life, found common ground with Varun, who was already married, leading to a fun and relatable bond between the two. Varun mentioned, "She was preparing for marriage, I was married. From earlier, she was like, when I become a wife, I will this type of wife and look at her what kind of wife she has played in the film. She is the wife of the year," to which Keerthy replied, "Kuch bhi!"

Varun also noted that "nobody knew about her relationship for many years." Keerthy continued, "People very close to me, they knew. Atlee and his wife, Varun knew from the time I met him, from two years. Otherwise, a lot of my very close friends knew, but we try to keep it very private."

Varun recalled, "In Mumbai, when we were shooting… so many people would message me about her, so many heroes. I can’t be like, ‘Here’s her number, let’s meet,’ because eventually, it’s my responsibility to take care of her. So the joke is Baby John, Bhabhi jaan."

For the unversed, Keerthy Suresh married Antony Thattil on December 12 in a traditional ceremony in Goa, surrounded by their families and close friends. She shared her first photos from the wedding on social media, captioning them with, “#ForTheLoveOfNyke.”

Keerthy Suresh and Antony Thattil have been in a relationship for almost 15 years, having met when Keerthy was in high school and Antony was an undergraduate. Despite their long relationship, the couple has kept their bond private, rarely sharing photos together or making public appearances.
