The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) 16 opened with contestant Anushree Samota, a young student from Bari Sadri, Rajasthan, taking the hot seat opposite Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan. The excitement was palpable as Anushree, visibly in awe, expressed her disbelief at being face-to-face with the superstar. Anushree, who shared that meeting Big B had been a lifelong dream, shyly admitted, “I still can’t believe I am sitting in front of you.” Bachchan, with his trademark warmth, reached out, held her hand, and replied with a smile, “Now you can believe.”
Anushree explained her motivation for participating in KBC: to support her father, who is the family’s sole breadwinner and a cancer survivor. Determined to earn enough to secure her family’s future, Anushree was full of hope and dedication.
The game began with a question worth Rs 10,000, and Anushree sailed through the initial rounds. For the Rs 3,20,000 question, she encountered a challenging one: “Cornelia Sorabji was the first Indian woman to become which of these?” The options were A. Police officer, B. Engineer, C. Lawyer, and D. Architect. Unsure, she used the Audience Poll lifeline and confidently chose Option C, winning Rs 3,20,000. Adding to her earnings, she won an extra Rs 40,000 in the Super Sandook round.
As the game progressed, Anushree encountered another tough question worth Rs 6,40,000: “What is the name of the largest gem-quality diamond mine?” The options were A. Cullinan, B. Hope, C. Regent, and D. Centenary. After using her Video Call a Friend lifeline and then the Double Dip, she selected Option A, winning the sum. However, faced with a difficult Rs 12,50,000 question about the city setting of a classic Sanskrit play, she chose to quit, taking home her impressive winnings of Rs 6,40,000.
The episode continued with another exciting contestant, Sub-Inspector Shaffy Singla from Mansa, Punjab, who joined KBC after Anushree's departure. Shaffy, an officer with Punjab Police, faced Amitabh Bachchan in the Fastest Finger First round, winning her place on the hot seat. Upon hearing Shaffy’s profession, Big B couldn’t resist a bit of humor, jokingly suggesting that if he got an answer wrong, he might end up in handcuffs. His playful handcuff gesture left Shaffy and the audience laughing.
When asked why she joined the police, Shaffy revealed that she used to be fearful of the police as a child, but her perception changed, and she wanted to be part of the force. Big B complimented her unique name and asked about its meaning, building a light-hearted rapport before diving into the questions.
In her initial rounds, Shaffy used the Audience Poll for the Rs 20,000 question: “Which of these is the name of a deep-fried dish particularly popular in Delhi and Punjab?” The options included A. Dahi Ke Sholay, B. Paneer ka Dangal, C. Murghi ka Dabangg, and D. Besan ka Baazigar. The audience guided her to the correct answer, Option A. She also added Rs 40,000 from the Super Sandook round to her winnings.

Aravinda. After using the Double Dip lifeline, she chose Option B, securing Rs 3,20,000. Her next question was worth Rs 12,50,000: “Which English guitarist founded the Mahavishnu Orchestra and was a founding member of Shakti?” Faced with the options of A. John McLaughlin, B. Jeff Beck, C. Keith Richards, and D. John Mayall, Shaffy was uncertain. She chose to quit the game and left with her winnings of Rs 6,40,000. Before exiting, she took a guess on Option C, but the correct answer was Option A.
The episode ended on a high note, with Sameer Kumar Tripathi and Vineet Bharuka facing each other in the Fastest Finger First round. As always, Big B’s charm, the contestants’ determination, and the camaraderie added depth to this thrilling episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16.
