Tamil actor Manoj Bharathiraja, veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja's son, passes away at 48

Tamil actor Manoj Bharathiraja, son of renowned filmmaker Bharathiraja, has passed away at his residence in Chennai at the age of 48.

The manager also mentioned that Bharathiraja was on his way to Manoj’s residence from Neelankarai, while funeral arrangements were yet to be finalized.

Tamil actor Manoj Bharathiraja, son of veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja has passed away at his Chennai residence. He was 48 year old.

According to News18, Manoj’s manager confirmed that he had recently undergone bypass surgery and was in the process of recovering. However, he tragically passed away due to a heart attack at his residence, leaving everyone in shock.

The manager also mentioned that Bharathiraja was on his way to Manoj’s residence from Neelankarai, while funeral arrangements were yet to be finalized.

Ramesh Bala expressed his condolences for Manoj's demise and wrote, "Director #BharathiRaja 's son - Actor #ManojBharathiraja (48) passed away, due to heart attack this evening in Chennai..Shocking.. Gone too soon.. RIP and Condolences to his family and friends!"


Actress Khushbu Sundar too to X and condoled Manoj's death. She wrote, "Extremely shocked to hear that Manoj is not among us anymore. His untimely demise pains. He was just 48 yrs. May God give the strength to his father Thiru #Bharathiraaja avl and his family to overcome this unbearable painful loss. You will be missed Manoj. Rest in peace. Om Shanthi."

Venkat Prabhu also expressed his shock over Manoj's untimely demise and wrote,""Really shocking to hear the news.. can’t believe u r no more my brother #manoj gone toooo soon… deepest condolences to @offBharathiraja uncle family and friends may ur soul RIP
#RIPmanoj #ManojBharthiraja"

Manoj began his acting career with Taj Mahal, a Tamil film directed by his father, Bharathiraja. He later took on lead roles in films like Eeranilam and Varushamellam Vasantham.

In recent years, he transitioned to supporting roles, featuring in films such as Champion, Eeswaran, Maanaadu, and Viruman. His final on-screen appearance was in the OTT film Snakes and Ladders.
