Mohanlal and Prithviraj starrer L2: Empuraan's advance bookings have broken records for Malayalam films ahead of its release on March 27,2025.
AAccording to Sacnilk, Empuraan has achieved a remarkable milestone, with its pre-sales on the opening day crossing Rs 35 crore and surpassing Rs 50 crore gross for the entire opening weekend at the worldwide box office. This makes it the first Malayalam film to reach Rs 50 crore in sales even before its release.
At the overseas box office, Empuraan has already grossed nearly $4 million (₹30+ crore), while domestic pre-sales stand at an impressive Rs 23+ crore. The film has also set new records for the highest pre-release collection for a Malayalam movie in several countries.
With three days still to go, Empuraan is on track to hit Rs 70 crore in advance bookings for the opening weekend, with an expected global opening day gross of Rs 40-45 crore.
Mohanlal recently took to social media to reveal that the pre-sales for Empuraan’s opening weekend have already grossed an impressive Rs 58 crore.
In a remarkable achievement, the film’s advance sales in Germany have surpassed the lifetime collection of the recent mega-blockbuster Pushpa 2, setting a significant milestone.

L2: Empuraan is both directed by and stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, featuring a stellar ensemble cast that includes Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Abhimanyu Singh, Indrajith Sukumaran, Jerome Flynn, and Suraj Venjaramoodu in pivotal roles.
Written by Murali Gopy, the film serves as a sequel to Lucifer, Prithviraj’s directorial debut, which also starred Mohanlal. Empuraan marks the second installment in what is planned as a three-part franchise.
