R P Singh, the national spokesperson for the BJP, shared his viewpoint on social media platform X amid the commotion.

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh is currently at the center of a controversy, facing intense backlash over the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Amir in his upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3.

Some social media users are furious about the action, and some have even gone so far as to call for Diljit's Indian citizenship to be revoked. Some have criticised him for being insensitive to the current political situation and demanded a complete boycott of the film.

R P Singh, the national spokesperson for the BJP, shared his viewpoint on social media platform X amid the commotion. Singh called Dosanjh a “celebrated artist” while addressing the controversy, tactfully advising against public outrage.

He wrote in the caption, "@diljitdosanjh is not just a celebrated artist—he's a national asset and a global ambassador of Indian culture. FWICE’s call to revoke his Indian citizenship over an inadvertent and pre-incident film shoot is not only unfair but shockingly disproportionate."

He further defended Diljit's film, mentioning that it was shot before the Pahalgam attack. "The film featuring a Pakistani actress was shot before the Pahalgam attack. If there is anguish, it can be expressed through a boycott or by urging that the film not be screened in India. But attacking Diljit’s patriotism and demanding such an extreme step is simply irrational."

"Just days before the Pahalgam incident, the Indian cricket team played a match against Pakistan. Did FWICE or others object then? TV news channels routinely invite Pakistani guests to boost TRPs. Should those anchors now relinquish their citizenship too? Let’s not cheapen nationalism or weaponize patriotism. FWICE should reconsider its stance—such targeting of our own talent only weakens our moral standing," he wrote as he concluded the post.

Diljit Dosanjh responded to criticism regarding the film's choice of Hania Amir by claiming that he has no control over such choices, but FWICE took issue with his collaboration with a Pakistani performer.

In a letter to the Indian government, the FWICE also called for strict action against the movie and its producers. "This casting decision is in blatant violation of FWICE’s official directive to boycott Mr. Diljit Dosanjh, which was issued after his unpatriotic act of working with a Pakistani actress, Ms. Hania Aamir, in the film Sardaar Ji 3. By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the lndian film industry in solidarity with the nation,” a part of the letter read.

Meanwhile, Sardaar Ji 3 was released overseas on Friday, June 27, but will not be screened in India.
