Bihar Election 2025 Live Updates: 'Would rather die than go back to that party,' says Tej Pratap Yadav on joining INDIA alliance

Reacting to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's 'BJP hijacked my uncle' remark against CM Nitish Kumar, Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey said, "No one gets hijacked. What do they think of Nitish Kumar? Nitish Kumar has been the Chief Minister of Bihar for 20 years, he has the strength and determination to work. On opposition asking Nitish Kumar to leave politics, BJP MP Ravi Kishan says, "Do you abandon your old parents who sacrificed their life for you? Nitish Kumar has sacrificed his life for the betterment of Bihar. Bihar will never abandon him." -- PTI

"PM Modi has nothing new to say. He wants to deceive the people of Bihar, which we will not allow. This time, the people of Bihar will oust the double-engine government and form a new one," said RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav in Vaishali.

Asserting that Bihar is still a "poor" state despite the 20 years of rule by the JD(U)-led NDA, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday claimed that CM Nitish Kumar will not be made the chief minister if the ruling alliance is again voted to power.

Yadav also alleged that Kumar has been hijacked by the BJP, and two people from Gujarat -- ostensibly referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah -- are "controlling" Bihar.

Yadav, the chief ministerial candidate of the INDIA bloc, accused the Centre of shielding corrupt leaders and criminals in the state.

"What can I do about Tejashwi being the face of Mahagathbandhan? In Mahua, there's no challenge at all... Jan Shakti Dal doesn't consider anyone its enemy. Our agenda is that Bihar is burning from murders and unemployment, these are the issues, and we're taking them forward," said Janshakti Janata Dal chief and candidate from Mahua Assembly constituency, Tej Pratap Yadav.

"Modi ji just come to ask for vote. When he comes back, he only says 'Jungle Raj'. Is there even a single day when crime doesn't happen in Bihar? Isn't this 'Jungle Raj'? People of Bihar are looking for Modi ji. When he comes here, ask him that if he wants victory in Bihar then why is he setting up factories only in Gujarat?", said RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan's CM face Tejashwi Yadav addressing a public rally in Muzaffarpur.

"This is the janmabhoomi of Jan Suraaj, where the party came into being 3.5 years ago... We resolved that we will end the political bonded labour of the people of Bihar, where they vote for the BJP when they fear Lalu, and vice versa... In the coming 10-15 days, people need to decide whether they want to continue with the existing arrangement or whether they want to bring about a change... A bullet train worth Rs 1 lakh crore is being built in Gujarat, whereas the youth of Bihar are struggling to get a seat in the train to come home for Chhath, " said Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor in West Champaran.

On RJD Tejashwi Yadav, Union Minister and LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan says, " Even till now, the people of Mahagathbandhan are still dealing with internal differences of opinion. It is already too late in the day to have started campaigning. Their dream will remain unfulfilled. The crowd at Samastipur shows that people of Bihar have made up their minds to form the NDA government."

On upcoming Bihar elections, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) leader & Union Minister Jitan Ram Majhi says, " It was a very good meeting of the PM in Samastipur today. NDA will form the government with a majority in Bihar." -- ANI

At a public meeting in Siwan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Siwan suffered due to terror by gangster-turned-politician Mohammad Shahabuddin during Lalu-Rabri regime. He said RJD nominated Shahabuddin's son in Bihar's Raghunathpur, while NDA fielded an ex-IPS officer from that seat.

"For 20 years, A-category history sheeter Shahabuddin, with around 75 cases against him, two jail terms, triple murders, an attack on an SP... he had bathed the sons of a business owner in acid till their skins came off. The brave people of Siwan never surrendered before Shahabuddin... Shahabuddin's son has been given a ticket by Lalu Prasad Yadav himself from Raghunathpur... Now, under the rule of Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi, even if a 100 Shahabuddin come, no one can do you any harm," said Amit Shah. -- ANI

"You all must be vigilant against these anti-women RJD-Congress. You must shut all doors for them. Remember, they can put an end to the Mahila Rozgaar Yojana. When it came to women's empowerment, they tore apart the bill for women in the Parliament," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing a rally in Begusarai.

Independent candidate from Gopalganj, Anup Kumar Srivastava, joins Jan Suraaj Party in the presence of party founder Prashant Kishor. After Jan Suraaj candidate Shashi Shekhar Sinha withdrew his nomination from the Gopalganj assembly constituency, Jan Suraaj is now supporting independent candidate Anup Kumar Srivastava.

In Madhya Pradesh, too, the BJP has been in power for a long time. We’ve seen this in Gujarat and Uttarakhand as well. In Gujarat, the BJP has been in power for over two decades, and in Uttar Pradesh, where governments changed every five years, the BJP ended that trend. All this shows that NDA stands for good governance, public service, and guaranteed development. I can now say with full confidence that under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, NDA will break its own record in Bihar and secure the biggest mandate ever."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend two election rallies in Bihar on Friday in support of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) backed candidates. He will address one gathering in Siwan and another at Fort Ground in Buxar.

"You all are getting benefits of the 'GST Bachat Utsav' and from tomorrow the grand festival of Chhath Puja will begin. I thank you all for coming here in large numbers...'Nayi Raftar se chalega Bihar jab phir aayegi NDA sarkar'..." says PM Modi in Samastipur rally.

On his poll promises, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav says, "I have only one dream – to make Bihar number one. We don’t make broken or false promises. What we say, we do. Bihar deserves a government that delivers on education, healthcare, employment, irrigation, takes action, and listens to people. We want a Bihar where no one has to go elsewhere for treatment or a job. When I become CM, all 14 crore people will feel like CMs too."

INDIA bloc's chief ministerial candidate for Bihar polls, Tejashwi Yadav, on Friday said he will ensure a corruption-free government in the state if the opposition alliance comes to power.

On Tejashwi Yadav to be Mahagathbandhan's CM face; Mukesh Sahani Deputy CM face, BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain says, "Mahagathbandhan does not value the minorities. Mahagathbandhan only uses the Muslim community for the vote bank. Mahagathbandhan ignore the muslims in ticket distribution also and the minority is feeling cheated...Where is the 'MY' equation?..."

Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) founder and president Hanuman Beniwal praised the intervention by senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot amid speculations of a widening rift within the Mahagathbandhan over the issue of "friendly fight" on some assembly seats in Bihar.

"Wherever Ashok Gehlot goes, he sweeps the board clean. Wherever Bhajanlal's foot even touches, things fall apart," Beniwal told ANI.

On Thursday, the Mahagathbandhan cleared the air regarding its lead face in the alliance -- announcing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Bihar Leader of Opposition (LoP) Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial face.

Vikassheel Insaan Party's Mukesh Sahani was declared as the alliance's Deputy CM nominee for the state polls.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday the people of Bihar will never forget the "misdeeds of Jungle Raj", an apparent reference to the RJD rule, and dubbed the opposition alliance as a "lathbandhan" (a coalition of criminals), whose leaders are out on bail.

Interacting with young BJP workers through the NaMo App, Modi also asked all the NDA partners to campaign together for the two-phase Bihar elections next month and highlight the achievements of the NDA government in the state.

The prime minister also gave a new slogan "Raftaar pakad chuka Bihar, phir se NDA sarkar", asserting that the state was witnessing all-round development with schools, hospitals and new rail routes being built.

"This is because there is a stable government in the country and in Bihar," Modi said in an interaction with BJP workers under the 'Mera Booth Sabse Majboot: Yuva Samvaad' initiative.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will spearhead NDA's campaign blitz ahead of the Bihar elections and start his rallies from Samastipur on Friday, October 24. The prime minister will address a dozen events – large and small public meetings – in the poll-bound state from October 24.

PM Modi will begin his poll campaign from Samastipur, the birthplace of socialist icon and former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur, who was conferred the Bharat Ratna last year by the NDA government. He will address another rally in Begusarai the same day. Read more

On Thursday, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was declared the chief ministerial face for opposition alliance Mahagathbandhan, while Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani was named the deputy CM nominee.

Assembly polls will be held in Bihar in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the counting set to take place on November 14.
