Rajinikanth’s Coolie has turned into a global celebration, with companies in both India and Singapore granting paid holidays so employees can catch the superstar’s latest release on opening day. With the countdown on for the release of Coolie, the highly anticipated Tamil film starring Superstar Rajinikanth, fan fervour has reached unprecedented heights.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film is set to hit theatres on August 14 and has already shattered records with its advance bookings, including overseas sales.

In a rare gesture, Singapore-based Farmer Constructions PTE Ltd has announced a paid holiday for its Tamil employees on the day of the release. Going a step further, the company is offering first-day-first-show tickets along with a $30 Singapore dollar allowance for food and beverages. Labelled as “an activity under workers’ welfare and stress management,” the announcement has won praise from fans both in Singapore and India.

The celebration isn’t confined to one firm. Another Singapore company, SB MART, has declared a partial holiday, closing operations from 7 am to 11:30 am on August 14 to allow employees to watch the film.

Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, a Madurai-based firm has granted a full-day holiday across all its branches. Its notice explained the decision as an effort to “avoid piled-up leave requests” and announced special charitable activities to mark the 50th year of ‘Rajinism’, including distributing food to orphanages and old-age homes, as well as sweets to the public.

The recently released trailer of Coolie has only intensified the buzz. However, the film’s ‘A’ certification from the Censor Board has sparked discussions about its suitability for younger viewers, particularly among Rajinikanth’s family audience.

Despite this, Coolie has set a new benchmark as the highest overseas procurement for a Tamil film. Reports suggest the film will release in over 100 countries, underlining Rajinikanth’s unmatched global appeal.

The star-studded cast includes Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. Adding to the excitement, Coolie will face off against another major release, War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, in one of the year’s most anticipated box office clashes.
