Tamil superstar Rajinikanth recently underwent an elective medical procedure after being hospitalized due to severe stomach pain while filming for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s 'Coolie'.

According to media reports, a stent was placed near his lower abdominal area by a team of three specialists in a cardiac cath lab. The procedure was led by interventional cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish. The actor is currently stable and under observation, with plans to move him from the cardiac ICU to the ward later in the evening. He is expected to remain in the hospital for 2-3 days before being discharged.

Rajinikanth’s sudden hospitalization caused a stir among fans, who flooded social media with well wishes. His wife, Latha Rajinikanth, reassured everyone with a brief health update, stating, "All is well."

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also extended his support, posting on X (formerly Twitter), “Wishing my friend Superstar Mr. @rajinikanth a speedy recovery after his hospitalization.” Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi joined in, expressing their hope for the actor’s swift recovery.

The actor’s health scare also brought back memories of his previous health challenges, including a fall in 2012, which resulted in a kidney transplant in Singapore.

On the professional front, Rajinikanth has been actively working on two major projects: 'Coolie' and 'Vettaiyan'. The former, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, features a stellar cast, including Sathyaraj, Upendra Rao, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, and Soubin Shahir, with music by Anirudh Ravichander. Though 'Coolie' is not part of Kanagaraj's Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), it has generated significant buzz due to Rajinikanth’s presence.

Additionally, Rajinikanth's upcoming film 'Vettaiyan', directed by TJ Gnanavel, is scheduled for release on October 10. This film features an ensemble cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, and more. The music for 'Vettaiyan' is also composed by Anirudh Ravichander, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
