Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his birthday on November 2, and it naturally brings back a flood of memories about the moments that defined his journey, both as a superstar and as a father. Among them, his bond with his eldest son, Aryan Khan, stands out. Born to Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Aryan has grown up in front of the cameras, becoming one of India’s most recognized star kids. Yet behind the fame and flashbulbs lies a relationship built on warmth, humor, and unfiltered honesty. Over the years, Shah Rukh’s candid reflections on fatherhood have revealed a man who’s not just protective of his children, but also deeply connected to them in a way that’s both relatable and endearing.
In one of his most memorable interviews with DNA back in 2017, Shah Rukh was asked how he’d react if Aryan ever kissed a girl. Staying true to his trademark wit, SRK quipped, “I’d rip off Aryan’s lips. I can’t rip off a girl’s lips, that’s not a charming gentlemanly thing to do. (Laughs) So, I will rip off Aryan’s lips, on behalf of the girl’s father. (Smiles) You can’t touch or harm a girl.”
The comment instantly went viral back then, both for its humor and its peek into SRK’s playful yet protective parenting style. It was also a lighter echo of his earlier remark on Koffee With Karan, where he had famously said he’d “rip off the lips” of any guy who dared kiss his daughter Suhana. The internet had a field day comparing the two, but Shah Rukh’s core message remained consistent, beneath all the jokes, his protectiveness as a father ran deep.

In the same DNA interview, Shah Rukh went beyond the jokes and revealed a softer, more candid side of his relationship with Aryan. “I’m a really cool father,” he said. “When I am with Aryan sometimes, we just lay down in our shorts without our shirts and we crack some dirty jokes. He gets really excited telling me about gaalis he’s learnt. I’m from Delhi and I’ve also been that age and my vocabulary of Hindi gaalis is fantastic (smiles). So when he tells me one, I tell him that I’ll teach him another version of it. So that’s cool.”
That kind of openness between father and son is rare, especially in the public image of Bollywood stardom. SRK also spoke about how they discuss films, fights, and ambitions. “We talk a little about filmmaking because he’s learning that. But he would like to recede from that because he wants to learn it on his own. We talk about getting into trouble, picking up fights, and how to beat up the other guy or answer back when a guy messes with you. He talks about his ambitions and where he would like to be one day. But he’s very clear that way. He just wants to be bigger than me and that’s cool,” Shah Rukh said with pride.
Karan had also gushed about Aryan’s qualities in another interview, calling him “a blend of SRK’s humor and Gauri’s compassion.” He added, “He has a terrific personality. I would be so excited to parent him on celluloid. He is my bachcha and I want the best for him.”
Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Bads of Bollywood and Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King, co-starring his daughter Suhana Khan, have both stirred conversation in the industry. The Bads of Bollywood, a dark satire about fame and hypocrisy in showbiz, has drawn mixed reviews for its tone and writing, with some calling it “not self-aware enough.” Meanwhile, King, Shah Rukh’s long-awaited action thriller faces pressure to deliver on its massive scale and the novelty of pairing father and daughter on screen. Both projects, though ambitious, highlight the double-edged reality of legacy, expectation, and the evolving face of Bollywood.
