Nagarjuna on bond with daughter-in-law Sobhita Dhulipala: "It’s a very nice relationship, we talk about books, music..."

In December last year, Telugu superstar Nagarjuna’s son, actor Naga Chaitanya, tied the knot with actor Sobhita Dhulipala in a private ceremony at Annapurna Studios in Hyderabad. The wedding, attended by close friends and family, marked the start of a new chapter for the Akkineni family. Now, Nagarjuna has opened up about his warm bond with his daughter-in-law, calling it one of the most special relationships in his life.

In a candid conversation with Times of India, Nagarjuna shared how Sobhita has blended seamlessly into their family. “She’s just fantastic. We talk about books and music. Right now, she wants to grow a garden in Naga’s house. I have a keen interest in gardening too, so we talk a lot about it. It’s a very nice relationship, and it’s like having a daughter at home. We have two daughters now — Zainab (Akhil’s wife) and Sobhita,” he said.

Interestingly, Nagarjuna admired Sobhita’s talent long before she became part of his family. He revealed he was particularly struck by her performance in the 2018 spy thriller Goodachari. So impressed was he that he reached out personally to congratulate her. During one such meeting at his home, fate played its hand — Naga Chaitanya walked in, and the two eventually got to know each other. The couple began dating in 2022 and, after two years together, exchanged vows in December 2024.

The wedding venue held special significance, as Annapurna Studios was established by Chaitanya’s grandfather, the legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The intimate ceremony saw the presence of industry stalwarts like Ram Charan, Chiranjeevi, SS Rajamouli, and Nani. After the wedding, Nagarjuna shared a heartfelt note on social media, welcoming Sobhita into the family and calling it an emotional moment for him.

On the work front, Nagarjuna was last seen alongside Rajinikanth in Coolie, which despite mixed reviews, raked in Rs 517 crore worldwide. His next venture, KING100 directed by Ra Karthik, is touted to be an action-family drama, with details expected to be revealed soon.
