Child actor Aayush Ullagade has recently shot to fame with his performance in the superhit film Munjya, directed by Aaditya Sarpotdar. The film, featuring Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Varma in the lead roles, is on the verge of crossing the 100-crore mark at the box office. Aayush's portrayal of Gotya, a character who transforms into Munjya, has garnered significant attention and praise. In an exclusive interview with Moneycontrol.com, Aayush opened up about his journey to landing the role, the challenges he faced in embodying such a complex character, and the emotional toll of performing a particularly difficult scene.
The Journey to Landing the Role
Reflecting on how he secured the role, Aayush shared, "I am a drama student, currently part of a drama institution. One day, we got to know that they were looking for a role which was very similar to me. I gave my screen test, I gave my auditions, and I cleared everything and successfully got the role."
The Challenges of Playing Gotya
Aayush's role as Gotya was no ordinary one. The character required intense physical and emotional commitment, demanding Aayush to stretch his limits. "Playing Gotya was difficult because I had to stretch my face a little bit every time to give the cruel expressions. Later, my jawlines would pain due to the excess of stretching my face. I had to scream and become more cruel while giving facial expressions and performing acts. It was hard because Gotya was not an ordinary person."
The physical toll of embodying Gotya's cruelty was evident. Aayush had to push through the discomfort to deliver a believable performance, often leaving him in pain after scenes. His dedication to the role highlights his professionalism and determination to bring authenticity to his character.
The Emotional Toll of a Difficult Scene
One of the most challenging aspects of Aayush's performance was a particularly harrowing scene where Gotya, under the influence of black magic, attempts to kill his little sister. This scene stood out as the toughest in Aayush's career so far. "My character Gotya does black magic. I had a scene in the film where I scream and cruelly go to kill my little sister. It was the toughest scene I have ever given in my life. It was hard to kill your sister on-screen."
The emotional complexity of the scene was immense, as Aayush had to balance the character's cruelty with his own natural empathy. This scene not only tested his acting skills but also his emotional resilience, making it a defining moment in his career.
Working with a Stellar Cast and Crew
Despite the challenges, Aayush found solace and support in the film's stellar cast and crew. He expressed his gratitude for being part of such a remarkable project at a young age. "While playing Gotya and working with the stellar star cast, I had somewhere in my mind, and in fact, our entire team was sure that this was going to become big. This will be a superhit."
The collaborative environment on set and the shared belief in the film's success motivated Aayush to push his boundaries and deliver a standout performance. His positive attitude and appreciation for his co-stars and crew members reflect his humble and grounded nature.
A Bright Future Ahead
With Munjya poised to cross the 100-crore mark, Aayush Ullagade's career has taken a significant leap forward. His portrayal of Gotya has not only brought him fame but also demonstrated his versatility and commitment as an actor. Reflecting on his journey, Aayush remarked, "I consider myself very lucky that I became a part of the film at such a young age."
As Aayush continues to grow and evolve in his acting career, his experience in "Munjya" will undoubtedly serve as a strong foundation. His ability to tackle challenging roles with such maturity and dedication suggests a promising future in the film industry. Audiences and critics alike will be eager to see what he takes on next, anticipating more powerful performances from this talented young actor.
