Ed Sheeran’s special connection with Punjabi music is showing no signs of slowing down.

After teaming up with Diljit Dosanjh on the crowd-favourite Lover and later joining Arijit Singh for Sapphire, the global pop star has now revealed his next big crossover: a brand-new English–Punjabi track with none other than Karan Aujla.

The song has already been filmed in New York and, if Sheeran is to be believed, will land this October.

Speaking to BBC Asian Network, he described the project as another exciting step in his journey of exploring South Asian sounds. “The first time I sung in Punjabi was doing Lover, Diljit was teaching, and then obviously doing it with Arijit. And I've just done a tune with Karan Aujla as well, where we’ve done like a little bit of that,” he said with a smile.

For Sheeran, the project feels special not just because of who he’s working with, but because of what he’s learning along the way. “We shot the video in New York last week. It's really good. It’ll come out, I reckon, sometime in October,” he revealed, clearly excited to share it with fans.

He also opened up about the beauty of singing in Punjabi, calling the language “melodic” and “poetic”. “What I found learning the bits that I've sung in Punjabi is a kind of melodic language, and even without melody, how poetic it is. The things that you say in English—when we translate it, sometimes it just doesn't feel the same. So when you sing it in Punjabi or Hindi, whatever it might be, it always sound way more beautiful,” Sheeran explained.

Karan Aujla, known for hits that blend hard-hitting lyrics with global appeal, didn’t let Sheeran off lightly during their studio sessions. “Like with Karan, sitting with him and him being like, ‘No, you say it like this, no, you say it like this.’ And I said, be really, really brutal with me. And so we sat together and he was brutally honest and we made it work. I'm just really excited now,” Sheeran mentioned.
