Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo is reportedly in talks to star alongside Chris Hemsworth in the Amazon MGM adaptation of Don Winslow’s crime thriller novel titled ‘Crime 101’. The film will be directed by Bart Layton.
Chris Hemsworth is also in talks to produce the film alongside producing partner Ben Grayson. The film is slated for a release next year. It is being called reminiscent of Michael Mann’s iconic film ‘Heat’ starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
The plot details are being kept under wraps right now but the story of the novel follows high level jewel thefts that are taking place frequently and all over the Pacific Coast. The police link the thefts to Colombian cartels. Detective Lou Lubesnick is not convinced as he starts a cat and mouse game with one perp looking for a final score.
Bart Layton has written the script along with Peter Straughan.
Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo were previously seen together in multiple MCU films wherein they played superheroes Thor and Hulk, respectively. This latest collaboration between the two will surely make MCU fans go gaga.
‘Last of Us’ actor Pedro Pascal was previously linked to the project alongside Chris Hemsworth but the talks never went through.
Mark Ruffalo has been doing amazing projects one after the other. He was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his brilliant performance in the Yorgos lanthimos directed film ‘Poor Things’. This project marked Ruffalo’s 4th Oscar nomination. The ‘Hulk’ star is currently filming a limited series for HBO titled ‘Task’ by creator Brad Ingelsby.
He will also be seen in the upcoming highly anticipated Bong Joon Ho film ‘Mickey 17’ starring alongside ‘Batman’ star Robert Pattinson.
