Bollywood's noted director Karan Johar has moved the Bombay High Court against the makers of a Hindi film titled 'Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar'.

He has requested the court remove his name and say that it should not be used in the film’s title.

In his plea, he has talked about the unlawful use of his name in the title, and he has also sought an urgent stay on the film’s release, which is slated to release on June 14, 2024.

The plea also sought a permanent restraining order against the film's producers, IndiaPride Advisory and Sanjay Singh, and writer-director Bablu Singh for the future usage of his name in the film’s title.

The plea was presented before a single bench of Justice RI Chagla yesterday, and the court will hear the plea on Thursday (June 13), a day before the film's release.

According to Karan Johar, the film's title refers to his name and is violating his personal rights.

KJo pointed out that the promotional materials were damaging his reputation.

"These trailers and posters have caused and are continuing to cause irreparable loss and damage to the goodwill and reputation of Johar. Further, such a release of the film with the title containing his brand name 'Karan Johar,' together or in parts, will cause irreparable loss and damage to the goodwill and reputation which he has gained after investing huge amounts of time, effort, and money," according to the suit filed in court.

On the professional front, Karan Johar's last directorial venture, 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani' was a superhit. He is currently focused on the release of his next production, Kill. The film's first trailer was released yesterday.

Karan Johar also condemned the act on Kangana Ranaut recently.
