Ananya Panday is set to star in a new drama series titled 'Call Me Bae,' which will premiere on Prime Video India on September 6. The show, created by Dharmatic Entertainment, is directed by Collin D’Cunha and boasts a star-studded production team led by executive producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra.

'Call Me Bae' is a rich-to-rags story that centers on a young woman named Bae, portrayed by Ananya Panday. Bae is an heiress who finds herself in a scandal that turns her life upside down. Stripped of her wealth and status, she must navigate the challenges of life as a hustler in Mumbai. The narrative explores how Bae discovers her true strengths, which lie not in her material possessions but in her resilience, street smarts, and style. As she navigates the city's vibrant landscape, Bae finds friendship, love, and a deeper understanding of herself.

The eight-part series features an ensemble cast, including Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur. The script is penned by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair, ensuring a blend of humor, drama, and heartfelt moments.

Ananya Panday, known for her roles in Dharma Productions' films like 'Student of the Year 2,' 'Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani,' and 'Gehraiyaan,' takes on the lead role of Bella 'Bae' Chowdhary. Her portrayal of Bae promises to showcase her versatility as an actress, as she brings to life a character who is both glamorous and grounded.

'Call Me Bae' is part of a broader slate of content that Prime Video India unveiled in March 2024. This slate includes 69 new and returning series and original and licensed films, indicating the streaming giant's commitment to expanding its Indian content library. Karan Johar, a prominent figure in Indian cinema, was instrumental in announcing these new projects at a star-studded event earlier this year.

Johar's Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment have a history of successful collaborations with platforms like Netflix and Prime Video. Their recent productions include the theatrical film 'Yodha' and the Vicky Kaushal-starring comedy 'Bad Newz,' which is set for a cinema release in mid-July. Additionally, Johar and Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga have announced a new series, 'Gyaarah Gyaarah,' for the streamer Zee5.

The announcement of 'Call Me Bae' has generated significant excitement among fans and industry insiders. The series promises to be a blend of glitz, drama, and emotional depth, with Ananya Panday's performance at its heart. As the launch date approaches, the anticipation continues to build, with audiences eagerly marking their calendars for September 6.
