On its part, the income tax department has denied that the portal is riddled with technical snags. The official handle has been asking users who have aired their grievances to clear browser cache, switch to a different browser or reach out to I-T team for assistance.
"The glitches are mostly due to browser issues at the users' end," a senior Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) official told Moneycontrol on September 13.

Tax rules for Virtual Digital Assets (VDAs) have become stricter in India. All transactions — including sales, spot trades, and P2P transfers — must be reported scrip by scrip under Schedule VDA.
•Gifts, airdrops, and staking rewards should be shown under Income from Other Sources until sold, at which point they fall under VDA rules.
•Futures contracts settled in rupees are treated as business income and reported in ITR-3.
•Depending on your case, you’ll need to use either ITR-2 or ITR-3 and complete both Schedule VDA and Schedule CG.
•Losses from VDAs cannot offset other income; they simply don’t reduce your tax liability.
