If you know cinema then Hans Zimmer isn’t new to you. The legendary composer who has worked on the most genre defining films is poised to lend his musical genius to the upcoming Formula 1 film.
The project is being spearheaded by Lewis Hamilton and will feature Brad Pitt. This highly anticipated movie, a joint effort between Formula 1 and Apple Original Films, is slated for a global release on June 25, 2025, followed by a North American release on June 27, 2025.
The Academy Award winner, whose illustrious career includes scoring masterpieces for films like Christopher Nolans’ Interstellar and Inception, and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator, revealed his involvement at the Austrian Grand Prix. In a memorable moment, he performed the Austrian national anthem on his electric guitar, showcasing his enthusiasm and hinting at the dynamic energy he will bring to the film's soundtrack.
This project marks Zimmer's return to the Formula 1 cinematic world, having previously composed the score for the acclaimed Ron Howard film “Rush” (a masterpiece to say the least), which depicted the legendary rivalry between Niki Lauda and James Hunt. His partnership with Hamilton on this new venture is a natural progression of their relationship, which began in 2019 when they first met at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Fans and critics alike are buzzing with excitement over Zimmer's participation, seeing it as a significant enhancement to the film's potential. Social media is abuzz with comments like, "Having Hans Zimmer as a part of the movie only increases expectations," reflecting the widespread anticipation.
Zimmer's rapport with Hamilton, cemented through visits and discussions about future projects at Zimmer's studio, has undoubtedly played a role in his decision to join the film. This personal connection promises to infuse the soundtrack with a unique passion and commitment.
The untitled F1 film is on the roll to be one of the most expensive movies ever made, with budgets soaring above a whopping $300 million.
Brad Pitt will be starring alongside Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Lewis Hamilton and more.
Directing the film is “Top Gun: Maverick” creator Joseph Kosinski also known for his work on “Oblivion" and “Tron: Legacy”
