Brad Pitt’s high-octane Formula 1 drama F1 is gearing up for its digital release. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the film hit theatres worldwide on June 27 and quickly became a massive success.
For fans who have been waiting to watch it at home, the wait is finally over — F1 will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from December 12, 2025.
With an opening-weekend worldwide box office receipt of US$144 million, the movie proved to be a huge hit and the largest theatrical debut for Apple Studios.
In F1, Brad Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, a once-talented Formula 1 driver whose career ended abruptly after he was forced to retire early due to a devastating crash. Years later, he rejoins the racing scene to coach Damson Idris, a talented young driver.
The film gives viewers a close-up and genuine look into the world of professional motorsport by fusing heart-pounding racing with poignant storytelling. The use of real Formula 1 teams and drivers, as well as close cooperation with the F1 organisation throughout the production process, add to its realism.
The movie tells the journey of Hayes as he confronts his past, handles the demands of competitive racing, and develops a strong relationship with the rookie he is mentoring.
Moneycontrol’s review captured the essence of the film perfectly, stating, "What makes ‘F1’ more than just another sports film is the way it finds meaning in the quieter beats. There’s a moment when Queen’s “We Will Rock You” blasts through the stadium before a big race—it’s pure spectacle. But then there’s the ending at Abu Dhabi, where Sonny insists Ruben collect the trophy—a small but powerful gesture that says everything about their relationship. Yes, the film does stretch reality at times—not everything here is strictly believable—but that’s also what makes it fun."
Alongside Pitt and Idris, the film features Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Javier Bardem, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo in significant roles.
Audiences were especially impressed by the realistic race sequences shot at real Formula 1 events, enhanced by striking visuals and dramatic tension. In India, F1 performed exceptionally well, collecting approximately ₹105.07 crore during its theatrical run.
