Korean actor and singer Im Si Wan, best known globally for his role in Squid Game, is all set to return to his musical roots — and fans couldn’t be more excited.
In a surprise move, Si Wan has officially teamed up with SM Entertainment to make his long-awaited solo debut as a singer.
According to Koreaboo, the multi-talented star is working with one of SM’s sub-labels to release his first-ever solo album before the end of the year.
SM Entertainment confirmed the news, saying the team is currently “fine-tuning the release schedule and other details,” assuring fans that the project is well underway.
Si Wan, who made his entertainment debut in 2010 with Park Hyung Sik, Hwang Kwang Hee, and Kim Dong Jun as a member of the K-pop group ZE:A, is embarking on a new chapter.
While he started as a singer, his acting career soon took centre stage, earning him praise for powerful performances in Misaeng: Incomplete Life, Tracer, and most recently, the global hit Squid Game.
Though Si Wan has contributed to soundtracks and a few collaboration tracks in the past, this upcoming release will be his first full-fledged solo music project — one that fans have been waiting for since his idol days.

Interestingly, Si Wan has been without an agency since August, but sources say that he decided to join SM after receiving encouragement from veteran SM artist Kangta, who inspired him to return to music.
The news quickly took over Korean social media, with fans expressing excitement and curiosity about what Si Wan’s musical comeback might sound like. Comments ranged from admiration to disbelief:
The actor-singer is said to be in the final stages of production, showing strong determination to deliver a project that reflects both his maturity and artistry.
