PLAVE’s upcoming concert in Seoul faced an alarming security threat on August 19, when authorities confirmed a bomb scare targeting the K-pop group. A man in his 20s was arrested shortly after issuing the threat, which authorities say was made through social media. The suspect reportedly claimed he intended to plant explosives at the event, raising concerns about the safety of large-scale K-pop concerts.
According to Korean media reports, the man first drew attention by altering a promotional photo for PLAVE's encore concert, scheduled for November 21 and 22, and posting a threatening message. In his post, he specifically mentioned the Gocheok Dome, stating, “I will plant explosives at Gocheok Dome.” The incident came to light just days after THE BOYZ was forced to delay a show due to a similar threat, highlighting a worrying trend in security issues surrounding K-pop performances.
Authorities acted swiftly after the warning emerged. The Yongin Seobu Police in Gyeonggi Province confirmed that the suspect was apprehended within two and a half hours of receiving the report. During police questioning, the individual reportedly downplayed the severity of his actions, referring to the threat as “just a prank.” Despite this claim, officials have stressed that the case remains under investigation and appropriate measures are being taken to ensure the safety of fans attending future concerts.
The incident has fueled ongoing discussions about security at K-pop events, which attract thousands of fans from across South Korea and internationally. Experts emphasize the importance of strict preventive measures, thorough screenings, and rapid response protocols to prevent potential harm.

This recent threat targeting PLAVE follows a series of similar incidents in the K-pop industry. On August 10, THE BOYZ had to delay a concert at the KSPO Dome during its The Blaze World Tour after a bomb threat was issued, underlining a growing pattern of such dangerous pranks or threats in the live entertainment sector.
Fans of PLAVE and the broader K-pop community have expressed concern, but officials have assured that heightened security measures will be in place for the upcoming concerts. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine the full scope of the suspect’s intentions and to prevent any future threats.
