Anubhav Sinha, the director of "IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack," lost his temper during a press conference in Mumbai today (September 3). The filmmaker became visibly upset when he was asked about the controversy surrounding his latest series.

A journalist asked him the reason for giving the terrorists Hindu names and factual distortions, Anubhav refused to answer and in reply asked the journo if he had watched the series.

When repeatedly pressed on the issue, the director got angry and stated, "“Aapne series dekha hain? Series dekhiye. Baat nahi kar sakta aapse, aapne series nahi dekhi." Following this, the director abruptly ended the press conference.

Following its release on August 29, 'IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack' faced controversy over its portrayal of the events. Many viewers have criticized the use of non-Muslim names such as Bhola or Shankar as code names for the hijackers, claiming it was insensitive. The real names of the terrorists were Ibrahim Akhtar, Shahid Akhtar Sayeed, Sunny Ahmed Qazi, Zahoor Mistry and Shakir.

After a meeting with the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Netflix issued an official statement agreeing to update the disclaimer of "IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack" to include the real names of the hijackers. This decision came in response to allegations of misrepresentation of facts in the series.

The series "IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack," starring Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapur, Arvind Swamy, and Naseeruddin Shah, is a thriller based on the 1999 hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814. The show explores the tense negotiations and dramatic events that unfolded during the five-day ordeal.
