Vijay Varma, who is known for his roles in movies and shows like Darlings, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, Mirzapur and more, has recently talked about his early life that brilliantly depicts his side as a family man.
During his recent appearance on Rhea Chakraborty's podcast, Vijay talked about his relationship with his mother and sister. As the youngest of three siblings, the actor talked about how his early relationships with his mother and sister influenced his conception of identity and self-expression.
Vijay recalled, “I’m the youngest in the family, we are three siblings. Older sister, then brother, then me. My sister and I are very close. And my mom and my sister are besties. My sister always wanted to have another sister to play gudiya (dolls) with… but my mom was too busy for that.”
“So sometimes when they were getting ready, they’d make me wear girls’ clothes, put nail paint on me, that was their entertainment. But somehow, I felt loved and enjoyed it. So I think that stigma was thrown out as a kid itself. I never felt like this could question my masculinity in any way,” the actor added.
Vijay's journey from being "the little brother who got painted nails" to being praised for shattering stereotypes on screen is a complete circle.
However, Vijay is currently gearing up for his highly anticipated film, Gustaakh Ishq, which also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead role.
Directed by Vibhu Puri, the film boasts a stellar cast that includes veterans like Naseeruddin Shah and Sharib Hashmi alongside the lead duo. The film marks the third venture from Manish Malhotra’s production house, Stage 5 Production, which was launched in September 2023.
Gustaakh Ishq is slated to release on November 30. He will also star in Matka King.
