Hugh Jackman, Deborra-Lee Furness finalize divorce after nearly three decades of marriage

After almost 27 years of marriage, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have officially finalised their divorce. According to court records from New York’s Suffolk County Supreme Court, the divorce judgment was filed on June 12 and uploaded online on June 23. The case status is now listed as “disposed,” as reported by People magazine.

Jackman, 56, and Furness, 69, were married in 1996 and became one of Hollywood’s most enduring couples. However, in September 2023, they announced their separation, stating their decision to end their marriage was made with “gratitude, love, and kindness.” The couple emphasized that their family has always been their highest priority and asked for privacy as they navigated this significant life transition.

The divorce process appears to have been amicable. Court documents indicate the terms were uncontested and only required a judge’s approval. They share two children together—son Oscar and daughter Ava.

Following the divorce filing, Furness released a deeply personal statement, addressing the emotional toll of the split. “My heart and compassion go out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” she wrote. Describing the experience as a “profound wound that cuts deep,” Furness added that her faith in a higher power helped her through the emotional upheaval of ending a decades-long partnership.

Meanwhile, Hugh Jackman has reportedly moved on romantically. He is believed to be in a relationship with actress Sutton Foster, his co-star in the Broadway revival of The Music Man. Jackman and Foster first became friends in the early 2000s while building their careers in musical theatre. Their professional paths crossed again in 2019 when they were cast in The Music Man, though the production was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually opened in 2022.

Foster was previously married to screenwriter Ted Griffin. She filed for divorce in October 2024, and by January 2025, she and Jackman appeared to confirm their relationship when they were photographed holding hands in California.
