Hania Amir has finally reacted to the fans from India who especially took VPN to have a loo at her Instagram account.

In the wake of the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian government has taken a series of strong retaliatory measures against Pakistan. Among these actions is the geo-blocking of several prominent Pakistani celebrities’ Instagram accounts, making them inaccessible to users within India.

Some of the most recognisable names affected include Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, Sanam Saeed, Bilal Abbas, Iqra Aziz, Imran Abbas, and Sajal Aly.

Despite the ban, many Indian fans have found creative ways to stay connected with their favourite Pakistani artistes, using VPN (Virtual Private Network) services to bypass regional restrictions.

Hania Aamir, one of the most adored Pakistani actors, responded emotionally to a fan’s heartfelt comment. “Don’t worry, humne VPN subscription liya hai apke liye (We’ve taken a VPN subscription for you),” wrote a fan under one of her posts. Touched by the gesture, Hania replied with, “ro doongi” (I’m gonna cry), along with a “love you” message.

Indian users attempting to visit these Instagram profiles are met with the message: “Account not available in India. This content has been restricted in response to a legal request.” This digital blockade comes amid rising tensions, with India accusing Pakistan of harbouring and supporting cross-border terrorism.

26 civilians were killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam's Bairsan Valley, a well-liked tourist destination, which was carried out by militants with a base in Pakistan. In retaliation, India suspended important bilateral agreements and privileges in addition to enacting social media restrictions.

These include airspace usage, trade relations, visa issuance, and the Indus Waters Treaty. 16 Pakistani YouTube channels were banned, according to government officials, for allegedly disseminating hate speech, provocative material, and disinformation against Indian security forces and institutions.

The situation has highlighted not just the deepening political rift between the two nations, but also the enduring cultural bond shared by audiences across the border—one that even geo-restrictions struggle to break.
