Gauri Khan applauds husband Shah Rukh Khan’s journey as he receives his first National Award, says "Now I’m designing a special mantle..."

The 71st National Film Awards turned into a celebration for millions of fans when Shah Rukh Khan was honoured with the Best Actor award, a recognition that has been long awaited in his illustrious career.

While the industry and fans alike showered him with congratulatory messages, it was his wife, Gauri Khan, who summed up the emotional weight of the moment.

Sharing a photograph of Shah Rukh looking effortlessly stylish, she wrote, “What a journey it’s been @iamsrk. Congratulations on winning the National Award!!! So deserving… it’s a result of your years of hard work and dedication. Now I’m designing a special mantle for this award.”

Gauri Khan also posted for Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar as they also won National awards for Best Actress and Best Director respectively.

She captioned the post as, "The big day for all three of my favourites… What an honour to receive the National Award!!! today is the culmination of all your hard work! Continue to inspire…. "

Shah Rukh, fondly called the “King of Bollywood,” travelled back from Poland — where he was shooting his next film King with Suhana Khan and Deepika Padukone — to personally collect the award in New Delhi.

Dressed in a black bandhgala jacket, with his medal pinned to his chest, the actor exuded calm dignity as he took his place in the front row of the ceremony.

This year, Shah Rukh shared the Best Actor honour with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.

Both actors received medals and certificates, while the prize money was divided equally — a standard practice at the awards.

For Shah Rukh, whose filmography includes timeless classics like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Swades, Devdas, My Name Is Khan and more, the win feels like a culmination of decades of dedication to his craft.

Adding to the celebrations, his dear friend and frequent co-star Rani Mukerji was also recognised with the Best Actress award for Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.

Karan Johar also received the award for the best director for his film Rocky Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
