Salman Khan starrer Sikandar was released in the theatres on March 30, and the film reportedly leaked online within a few hours of its debut. The makers have confirmed that they get the film removed from over 600 pirated sites.
However, film trade analyst Komal Nahta has recently chimed in to express his concern over piracy and its effect on the film industry. He claimed that he initially discovered the leak but hesitated to share it on social media, choosing to verify the information thoroughly to be "hundred per cent sure."
In a recent interview with ANI, the film trade analyst said, “Last night when I was in the trade, I discovered the film had already been leaked. But I didn't tweet about it right away because I wanted to be 100 per cent sure.”
He added, “Sometimes, only a few scenes are leaked, and if you call it a full leak, it can cause unnecessary panic.”
Nahta further noted, “This morning, I spoke to seven or eight people in the trade, and they confirmed that the film had been leaked. I was also told that Sajid Nadiadwala and the authorized team worked hard to remove the film from many piracy websites. But by then, the damage was already done. It spreads very fast.”
He explained, “Kya hota hai na kabhi kabhi ek hafte baad, do hafte baad film pirated hoti hai aur piracy wali copy aapke paas aa jaati hai. Ye toh release se pehle aur release ke din toh definitely…”
He further asked why people would go to the cinema hall if they could watch a newly released Salman Khan movie for free on their phones on the same day.
Salman stars alongside Rashmika Mandanna in the A.R. Murugadoss directorial film, Sikandar. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Sikandar also features Sathyaraj, Kajal Aggarwal, Prateik Smita Patil, Sharman Joshi and Anjini Dhawan in key roles.
